Cybersecurity Throwback Thursday: The Email That Crashed The World. ๐Ÿ’Œ๐Ÿ’ป

Back in 2000's, millions of people opened an email titled โ€œILOVEYOU.โ€

Subject: ILOVEYOU
Body: โ€œkindly check the attached LOVELETTER coming from meโ€
Attachment: LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.TXT.vbs

People opened it thinking it was a sweet messageโ€ฆ but it was actually a malicious script.

But that one click triggered one of the most damaging cyberattacks in history.

The attachment secretly:
โš ๏ธ Overwrote files
โš ๏ธ Stole passwords
โš ๏ธ Sent itself to every contact in your email
โš ๏ธ Spread across the globe in HOURS

Governments, banks, and major corporations were forced to shut down email systems.

Estimated damage? $5โ€“10 BILLION worldwide.

So whatโ€™s the lesson today?

Cyber threats donโ€™t always look suspicious.
They look familiar. Urgent. Personal.
