Announcing the 2026 Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship Recipient: Hannah Fernandez! 🎉

Hannah is a graduating student from Transcona Collegiate with aspirations to pursue a career in dentistry through the Diploma in Dental Hygiene program at the University of Manitoba. She has a deep passion for creating safe environments for her peers and is committed to helping people feel supported and included.

Throughout her time at Transcona Collegiate, Hannah progressed from member to head executive to president of Student Leadership in her final year. As a leader of the Filipino Culturama Club, she brought cultural celebrations to life. She spent four years as a stage manager in the TC Theatre Program and took that passion into the community, stage managing a production at the 2025 Winnipeg Fringe Festival that received a five-star review from the Winnipeg Free Press. Beyond school, Hannah has volunteered with local theatre organizations and led food drives for the Transcona Food Bank.

We are so inspired by Hannah’s commitment to service, inclusion, and lifting up those around her. Congratulations Hannah! 💜

We don’t have many photos from this year’s AGM… mostly because we were far too busy enjoying the very important things in life: great food from , rich conversation, and the collective wisdom of our members.

Fog or no fog, you showed up — and you filled the room with insights, ideas, and the kind of thoughtful dialogue that keeps Athena moving forward with purpose. Thank you for lending your voices, your experiences, and your time to shaping our year ahead.

A special thank‑you to our President, , for leading such a successful and engaging AGM. Your steady leadership and vision continue to guide our community with clarity and heart.

Here’s to another year of learning, leading, and lifting each other up — even if we forget to take photos while we’re doing it.

On March 16, our Athena Leadership members had the privilege of joining the International Women’s Forum – Manitoba Chapter for an inspiring afternoon of learning and connection.

We were honoured to be invited into a space filled with remarkable local women whose leadership, courage, and trailblazing work continue to shape opportunities for women today. Their stories, insights, and lived experiences resonated deeply with every Athena member who attended.

We left feeling energized, grateful, and grounded in the knowledge they generously shared with us. Thank you to the IWF Manitoba Chapter for welcoming us so warmly and for the wisdom you gifted our community.

Here’s to continuing the path they’ve carved and lifting one another as we lead forward.

February Mentor Night sparked the kind of conversation that stays with you. invited our community to imagine what becomes possible when we center lived experience, lead with relationships, and choose joy as a strategy for change.

His teaching on the Circle of Power and Influence grounded the room:

🧡Lived experience leads.
🧡Former experience amplifies and advocates.
🧡Those without lived experience have a responsibility to create space, listen deeply, and act with intention.

Michael also reminded us that land acknowledgements are commitments, not scripts. Begin with the Calls to Action that resonate, honour the original peoples of the territory, and name the action you’re taking to move that commitment forward.

We’re grateful to the for hosting us so generously—the space, the food, and the care they put into the evening helped create the environment for these conversations to unfold.

As a community of leaders, we’re holding onto Michael’s words: Change can take a long time, but it can be in your lifetime.
We left feeling energized, accountable, and hopeful—ready to build spaces that are more relational, more thoughtful, and more equitable for everyone.

We started the year with a January Member Night focused on intentional goal setting, guided by , , and

The evening brought members together to reconnect, reflect, and think about what they want to build in 2026—all over delicious power bowls from

Through guided exercises and conversation, we explored big‑picture dreaming, meaningful priorities, and the practical steps that help turn ideas into action.

The discussion reminded us that goals can shift, evolve, or even be set aside, and that revisiting what matters most is part of the process. It was an honest, energizing space that set a strong foundation for the year ahead.

Athena members gathered on December 13 for a volunteer morning at , starting with an engaging tour of the facility before getting to work sorting donations for their boutique.

It was a lively, hands‑on morning filled with conversation, teamwork, and plenty of laughs—an energizing way to support an organization that empowers women in our community.

Thank you to our members for showing up with generosity and enthusiasm.

Our membership supported a local family this past holiday season, by providing a Christmas Hamper through the Christmas Cheer Board.

Thanks to the generosity of Athena members, Laura and Shanelle were able to shop for and deliver the hamper in early December. Member contributions covered the full wish list, allowed for a few thoughtful additions, and even made it possible to include a gift card with the remaining funds.

Thank you to our members for showing up for our community in such a meaningful way. 💜

✨ Athena Leadership Holiday Party 2025/2026 ✨

Warm lights, easy laughter, and that familiar December buzz—our holiday party this year felt like a deep exhale after a full season of showing up for our careers, our communities, and ourselves.

We filled the room with stories from the past year, little victories worth celebrating, and the kind of conversations that remind you how grounding it is to be surrounded by people who get it. Cozy corners, shared snacks, and a whole lot of “I’m so glad we crossed paths this year” energy carried the night.

What nights like this highlight for us:

• how meaningful it is to have a space where women can connect without pressure
• how much wisdom lives in casual conversations
• how community grows in small, genuine moments
• how leadership can look like showing up exactly as you are

Athena isn’t just about workshops or mentorship—it’s about these moments in between. The ones where you feel supported, seen, and part of something that grows with you.

Here’s to another year of connection, curiosity, and celebrating each other—on the big days, the small days, and the sparkly holiday ones. ✨

Thank you for the beautiful venue 👌🏽
