I loved this concept, a wonderful way to connect community! 📚📖👏

Their new free Community Library is now up and running at the Community Centre It started with Hernán Popper, who wanted to give something back and donated 600 books to get it going.

And it came to life thanks to RONA Southwest Winnipeg, who provided all the shelving and materials.

Super simple idea:

Take a book.

Bring one back (or pass it on).

Leave one if you can.

That’s it.

Stop by, have a look, and help it grow.

Honouring mothers, mother-in-laws, grandmothers, sisters, aunties, nieces, daughters, daughter-in-laws (I have the best, by the way), father's who nurture and my beautiful friends today.
As I reflect on what it means to be a mother, I think of all of the beautiful women in my life.

There is a unique power found in women who nurture—not only as mothers to children, but as mothers to ideas, to hope, and to communities. These are the women who lead with compassion, vision, and unwavering resolve. They inspire and empower those around them, offering wisdom, courage, and support, regardless of traditional roles or titles.

May we celebrate the beautiful mother energy, may we lift others as they rise, create safe spaces for growth and belonging. Love to you all 🌷

to my beautiful mom, thank you. 🥰

In Winnipeg, there are 63 community centres with 81 locations and 130 outdoor rinks. These community centres offer various outdoor components, including playgrounds, athletic fields, and sport courts. They are governed and operated by non-profit boards made up of community members, with thousands of volunteer hours dedicated to ensuring residents can gather for events, programming, and youth sports.

This article highlights the importance of recreation and leisure centres in helping to rebuild our social fabric. I agree that we need to invest in the spaces and experiences where relationships take shape.

I am proud of the vital role community centres play in our city, and also proud to advocate for sustained investment.

I had the privilege of attending this leadership event. Hearing their stories, the good, bad, and the ugly, was encouraging. I’m inspired by women who say yes to leadership roles.

We should do more to lift each other up, to encourage others to stand in their power and to tell others you can do it.

It has been a whirlwind of events this past week, celebrating women!

Today, I honor and celebrate the remarkable life of Danielle Moore. At just 24 years old, she was making waves in her community, our country, and beyond. Danielle studied Marine Biology at Dalhousie University and was preparing to embark on a new journey to become a teacher.

On March 9th, she shared her excitement: "I'm so excited to share that I've been selected to attend and am currently en route to the United Nations Environment Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya with the United Nations Association in Canada." She was set to discuss global environmental issues and connect with youth leaders from around the world.

Tragically, Danielle and 156 other passengers on Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 lost their lives en route on March 10,2019.

Her impact on all of us during her lifetime was profound. I am and will always be proud to have known her, she is missed.

Thank you 2025.Looking forward to 2026.With love ❤️

Today Danielle would have been 31, instead her family still grieves her loss. Her spirit lives on. 💜https://mailchi.mp/3...

Today would have been Danielle’s 31st birthday. Almost seven years have passed since we lost her, and in that time we have devoted ourselves to seeking accountability while finding meaningful ways to honour the curious and colourful life she shared with us.
