I've been wanting to go to Hillside Festival for ages. I just never thought my first time would be as part of the music line-up!

I'll be singing the song I wrote as part of the Girls and Guitars songwriting group, at our workshop on Sunday. I'm so grateful to the gals and workshop leaders, so happy to be meeting them in person. ❤️

I've only really sung for cats and kids and so this is brand new for me. So, musician friends - please share your best advice for playing in a festival! ☀️

We're excited that Kelly Bado's album, Hey Terre, was listed in the Acadie Nouvelle Top 10 albums of 2021. It's special in that francophone music created outside of Quebec is a way that our scattered and diverse minority-language communities can connect, share our respective stories, and celebrate the Francophonie experience that is important to many of us.

Knowing that Kelly's album was not only heard but appreciated thousands of kilometres away just shrinks the distance between us and makes us feel we're part of a family, more than ever.

In a weird twist, Senator Joe Manchin III was in the house last night at the Kennedy Center, and I got to play him a song. Here's how I introduced it:

"I hear there's somebody in the audience tonight who could personally reduce child poverty in the US by 40%. Senator Joe Manchin, this one's for you. We hope you make the right decision".

I hope Mountain Stage Radio Show didn't get in too much trouble. But more than that, I hope Joe felt ashamed of acting like a spineless corporate shill, and woke up this morning with a sudden urge to fully extend the child tax credit.

We could not be happier for Kelly Bado who received the 2021 WCMA Awards for Francophone Artist of the Year and Global Artist of the Year. This recognition for her work and album "Hey Terre" comes at a time when the world is struggling with isolation, closed borders and fear. These awards encourage her to share her message of unity, inclusion and celebration of the beautiful languages and textures the world offers us! We're proud to work with an artist who uses her voice and music to compel us to care for our planet and each other!

Thanks to the creative team - Chris Burke-Gaffney who produced Hey Terre and co-wrote the title track, along with Alpha Toshineza, Jaylene Johnson, Stéphanie Demers and Murray Pulver (on arrangements) as well as the musicians who stand with Kelly on stage: Ivan Burke (drums), Austin Parachoniak (guitar), Nwanma Ndubuisi (keys) and MJ Dandeneau (bass).
