On a roll with awards! We are happy to share that LM-ESP has received the 2026 Tenant Improvement of the Year Award in the renovation category from BOMA Manitoba! This award recognizes Café 360, located on the ground floor of Manitoba Hydro Place.

A great example of adaptive reuse in the downtown, our design for Café 360 transformed a dark, unused space into a vibrant and flexible social hub where employees, neighbours and visitors can gather, connect and relax. The approach prioritizes flexibility, sustainability and comfort. Overall, the project adds to the connection and liveliness of downtown.

The entire team played a big role in this project’s success, and we’re happy to see the hard work, collaboration and team effort recognized!

We’d like to warmly welcome four students to our office for the summer – Andree, Lauren, Rich, and Jana!

Andree is joining us for the first time after graduating from the Environmental Design program at U of M and is working on her Master’s of Interior Design. She has been working on education, corporate and community sector projects on the interior design side. Lauren is back for her third summer at LM-ESP and is on her way to completing her Master’s in Architecture. She has been contributing her skills and knowledge to a range of projects, including healthcare, education, commercial, and residential spaces. Rich joined us last summer on a part-time basis, and recently completed his first year of Master’s of Interior Design at U of M. He has been contributing his skills to education and workplace related projects. Jana is spending her second summer in our office, currently in the Master’s of Architecture program at U of M. So far this summer, she has been focusing on various recreation projects.

We’re excited to have such proactive, collaborative and bright students for the summer, and are grateful for our ongoing partnership with University of Manitoba and Faculty of Architecture | University of Manitoba.

LM-ESP team is growing! We are looking for a career-minded Accountant to join our studio on a full-time basis.
As a key member of the finance team, you will report to Senior Associate Accountant and Principals, and work closely with our multidisciplinary team of architects, interior designers, technologists and administrative staff.

If your qualifications and skills include:
• CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA designation through CPA Canada / Manitoba
• 3-5 years of professional accounting experience (preferred), preferably within professional services, architecture, engineering, or a similar project-driven environment
• Working knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE), payroll, GST/RST, and CRA reporting requirements
• Strong proficiency in accounting software – direct experience with Ajera, Deltek, or similar platforms is a strong asset
• Advanced Microsoft Excell and Microsoft 365 skills

We are excited to share that LM-ESP received a 𝗕𝗢𝗠𝗔 𝗘𝗱𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 2026 – recognizing our design and impact on the MLT Aikins office in Edmonton.

The project success was a team effort - made possible through close collaboration with our client group at MLT Aikins LLP, and the project team including Englobe, Seagate Contract Management and Aspen Properties.

This is a special achievement for our firm, as we continue to expand our design reach throughout the prairies and beyond.

Our team participated in a town hall with the Premier, Health Minister and local MLA to speak to and hear from community members, elders, families and front-line staff on the new Personal Care Home addition at Park Manor Care Home.

The project is moving forward – the investment will add 83 new private beds to the Park Manor Care campus, strengthening our support for elders who deserve quality care and dignity in the spaces they call home.

We had a wonderful time dining with our peers and colleagues along Alexander & Waterfront for the 12th anniversary of Table for 1200 hosted by Storefrontmb! We got a chance to connect with our design community, admire all the unique displays and take in the historic Exchange District views on a gorgeous sunny day.

The food was second to none thanks to Chef Ben Kramer and his team, and the entire event came together beautifully.

We are excited to be a sponsor of Doors Open Winnipeg this year, continuing our support.

This is an amazing opportunity to get out on a day trip this weekend and learn about some of Winnipeg’s architectural heritage treasures and historic streetscapes, completely for free!

Our team loves taking tours like these. Whether it’s the buildings you pass every day on your way to work or a historic monument you never knew stood on the other side of town, it’s great to discover the untold stories and veiled legends from people who know and love Winnipeg’s history.

Recap from last Friday’s celebration of Lloyd Mymko’s retirement. The team, his family, and industry connections showed up to celebrate Lloyd and his achievements – complete with an incredible spread of bites, cupcakes, carrot cake (Lloyd’s favourite), and a special trophy for Lloyd’s “no mistakes since 1973”.

Today we are announcing that after an outstanding 53 years at LM-ESP, Lloyd Mymko is retiring.

Lloyd joined us in August of 1973, and to celebrate his new job, he probably went to the movie theatre to watch Live and Let Die and then danced the night away at a local club, where Crocodile Rock by Elton John was surely playing. Back then the company still went by Libling Michener and Associates, and was re-named LM Architectural Group a few years later – Lloyd likes to think it was in his honour.

Lloyd started in an intermediate drafting position, and less than two years later he transitioned to a Contract Administrator position, which he has held ever since, playing an instrumental role in major healthcare, civic, and educational projects year after year.

“A contract administrator’s position is actually an easy job … all you have to do is know everything about everything; make the owners, consultants and contractors do their jobs, you are the last pair of eyes and ears for the office,” said Lloyd. To him, no two days have been the same, he really has seen it all, and his wealth of knowledge has guided the team to bigger and bigger projects – a lot of them award-winning.

Our team couldn’t have asked for a better mentor. The impact he has made on the firm and on his colleagues is insurmountable and will be cherished.

We extend a tremendous thank you to Lloyd for all his contributions in his journey with us, the laughter and the lessons. It is with mixed emotions that we wish Lloyd many new adventures, some well-deserved rest, and all the best in his retirement. Cheers to Lloyd!
