Its Saturday night and I am geeking out at the shop doing logic board repairs while jamming to ole school Indian music - "Mein jat yamla pagla dewana ... !" ... one of my favorite oldies that came out before I was even born 😂

This is an iPhone 8. Came in for greyed out WiFi ... customer couldn't connect to wifi at all.

Replacing with new WiFi chip requires taking off the Nand chip, unbinding it in a programmer (my new toy!), reballing the Nand chip with a stencil (110 tiny balls I believe) and replacing it.

Successfully done ✔ WiFi back !

Last of my repairs for the day ... stayed back to do the easier ones.

Its been busy and we are open for curb side drop offs and pick ups.

This is an iPhone 5S that had technical pry damage when a shop tried to replace a charging port.

What is a very simple and standard repair turned into a night mare for that shop.

No worries - is here.

I didn't have a part for this but have tons of donor boards. I gently harvested the FPC from another board - which can be tricky since the FPC has mostly plastic as you can see - and taking heat to it risks melting it.

But I am pro LOL. Got it done fast and easy.

Customer had important data that he needed urgently. The question mark on the screen indicates a HDD failure.

I have something "Spectacular" to share, folks!

Remember this Macbook Air A1466 that had Rye and Coke liquid damage and Apple said was a "No Fix"?

Well, I just fixed it! This was my second liquid damaged MacBook I have fixed and the first one that had sustained corrosion under the SMC.

As explained before, the SMC is programmable BGA chip with 157 small balls underneath it soldered to the logic board.

This part cannot be bought. Only cleaned and reballed or taken from an exact model of macbook, reballed and placed.

I am just beginning to enter the fascinating world of macbook repairs. So far, I am finding it much easier than repairing iphone logic boards as the components are much bigger and easier to navigate.

This was definitely SPECTACULAR!

Winnipeg is on lock down code red.

I haven't posted much as repairs don't seem "spectacular" anymore - I can do nand errors, logic boards, refurbishing, etc ... now it all seems "unspectacular".

I carry on with the daily grind but the empty streets outside, the empty pizza place to my left and the empty barbar shop to my left has left our plaza like a ghost town.

I am thankful to be considered "essential" and am blessed to be able to continue working.

I did find something that I thouht would be a "spectacular" share. Today I had to work on several macbooks that had liquid damage and a few that needed batteries.

Here is a battery replacement that came in. As soon as I took off the back cover, the battery popped up like a balloon!

Very dangerous !!! Some of my colleagues called it a "bomb" and or "fluffy pillow". 😂

All repaired and good to go.

Macbook Air A1466 - customer spilt Rye and Coke ... like who spills rye? Coke I get but why waste Rye?

Lets get started on this SMC, BIOS corrosion and that third IC!

SMC cannot be replaced unless I have a donor board as SMC is not a part you can buy. It is programmed for this specific board.

So I shall attempt to save this one 🤞

iPhone 7 Plus randomly shut off for customer one day. No power. He plugged it in and nothing.

He went to a franchise kiosk in the mall and they charged him to "diagnosis" his device. After they opened it up and tried new battery, they declared this board a "no fix".
