I don't usually post personal stuff to facebook but the response has been overwhelming and it is clear I need to share this.
It is with a heart broken beyond words that We say goodbye to our father, ERIC FLEURY SR, who was born on January 13, 1953, and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, at 11:59 p.m.
To me, he was not just my father. He was my teacher, my friend, my example of what a man is supposed to be, and one of the strongest men I have ever known.
Dad was a hard-working man who believed in earning your way, keeping your word, and treating people fairly. He spent many years working at Bulldog Demolition and Excavation Inc., where his toughness, determination, and strong work ethic were a reflection of the man he was every day of his life. He was tough as nails, but beneath that tough exterior was a kind and caring heart.
Dad didn't need to say much to make you understand where he stood. He believed in doing things right, standing up for what was fair, and never backing down when life got difficult. He taught me that a man's character is shown not by what he says, but by what he does, especially when nobody is watching.
As his son, I will forever be grateful for the lessons he gave me. He taught me how to work hard, how to stand on my own two feet, how to be fair, and how to keep going even when things get tough. More than anything, he taught me what it means to be a good man.
There are so many memories I will carry with me for the rest of my life—the sound of his voice, his stories, his sense of humor, his stubbornness, and the little moments that I never realized would one day become some of my most precious memories.
I wish I could have one more conversation with you, Dad. One more chance to tell you how much I love you. One more chance to say thank you.
Thank you for every sacrifice you made. Thank you for every lesson, every laugh, every helping hand, and every time you stood beside me. Thank you for being my father.
Losing you leaves a space in my life that can never be filled. But I will carry you with me in everything I do. Every time I work hard, stand up for what is right, help someone who needs it, or refuse to quit when things get difficult, a part of you will be there with me.
You were tough as nails, kind at heart, and fair to the core. You were my dad, and I will always be proud to be your son.
Rest peacefully, Dad.
I love you more than words could ever say.
Until we meet again.
Funeral will be at chapel lawn funeral home at 2pm Oct 10, 2026
