I'm pleased to announce that on February 3rd, I will be joining Wolseley Law LLP at 120 Sherbrook Street in Winnipeg as an associate. I will continue to focus mainly on family matters, and am looking forward to the augmented level of service and support I'll be able to deliver to clients as part of the Wolseley Team.

Is a Divorce on your To-Do List?
You might be surprised how many people have ended relationships and just not gotten around to actually getting divorced. It is one of the few things that can only be officially done by a Judge, so the process can be daunting.
But it doesn't have to be. I can help.

Why does Divorce with Child Support cost more?

Because there is generally more work involved. The Divorce Act requires Judges to satisfy themselves about the arrangements for the care of any children of the marriage.
So the person getting divorced will have to swear an affidavit describing the parenting plan and child support, including recent financial disclosure for both parents.
I have done enough of these to know that this takes more time and effort and I charge accordingly.

Hanks Law Office Flat Fee Divorces

Uncontested Divorce (no child support): $750.00 plus tax.

Uncontested Divorce (with child support): $1,000.00 plus tax.

These flat fees do not include $210.00 Court Fee or costs to serve other party. You must provide an original government-issued Certificate of Marriage (apply here for Manitoba).

Uncontested Divorce is only advisable once all outstanding support childcare, and property issues have been dealt with.

Manitoba's government introduced new legislation Wednesday that would allow disputes around child and spousal support to be dealt with out of court, and also provide more clarity around the rights and responsibilities of families that are separating.

The increased push for people to be vaccinated against COVID-19 has found some children of divorced parents caught in the crossfire of a courtroom case.
