Thinking about the Dangote IPO? 👀
Before you look at the potential return, ask yourself a different question:
What will my money actually be worth when I need it?
An investment can grow on paper while inflation quietly reduces its purchasing power.
That’s why there’s a difference between:
📈 Nominal return — how much your investment grew.
💰 Real return — how much your purchasing power actually grew after inflation.
And this isn’t just about the Dangote IPO.
The same thinking applies to stocks, ETFs, real estate, mutual funds and other long-term investments.
Before investing, don’t stop at:
“How much can I make?”
Also ask:
👉 What is my expected return after inflation?
👉 What are the taxes and fees?
👉 What currency am I investing in?
👉 What level of risk am I taking?
More dollars doesn’t automatically mean more wealth.
The real question is whether you’ve created more purchasing power.
📌 Save this before your next investment decision.
