HOUSING INSPECTOR
Primary Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Housing Project Coordinator, the successful candidate will perform the following duties:
• Housing Inspector for Ininew Limited Partnerships current contract with CMHC and ISC On Reserve Band Housing contracts.
• Housing Inspections for: On-Reserve Non-Profit Housing Program (Section 95) Progress Advance Validations, Physical Condition Reviews and Renovation Programs reviews.
• Prepare and maintain accurate inspection records in both electronic and manual formats.
• During the walk-through, write the percentage completion of components and take photos.
• Complete and sign the progress report and submit to our Winnipeg office for processing.
• Prepare information for files and reports in respect to matters relative to the section.
• Successful candidate will travel to the site to meet with the First Nation representative and complete a walk-through of the site or building.
• Present a professional, positive, knowledgeable, and conscientious image to the public at all times.
• Work in coordination with other staff, other departments, and external agencies.
Job Specifications
• Certified Engineering/Architectural Technologist/Certified Tradespeople and/or have post-secondary education related to building design or construction.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years directly related work experience. First Nation Experience is a definite asset.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the requirements of the Building Code Act, the Manitoba Building Codes, and any other applicable laws as they apply to all buildings in general, and more specifically, to architectural and structural systems.
• Designation or eligible for designation as a Certified Building Code Official is desirable.
• Must be proficient in the reading and interpretation of drawings, specifications, and other technical documents.
• Computer skills are required. Candidate must have their own computer and cell phone.
• Must have strong communication and customer service skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Valid driver’s licence and use of a personal vehicle is essential.
This is a casual position with the potential to extend to full time.
Salary – Commensurate with experience

CERTIFIED ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST (C.E.T)

Ininew Limited Partnership is currently seeking a self-motivated, hardworking Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T), to join our Winnipeg office. This is an excellent growth opportunity for someone who is looking to apply his or her knowledge to support current work and expand Ininew Limited Partnership’s service offerings.
Ininew (ILP) (Indigenous People) is a First Nation owned Project Management and Engineering Business in operation since 1990. Our office is located on Reserve Land at 1075 Portage Avenue in the former Driver and Vehicle Licencing Building. Our team consists of Engineers, Technicians, Accountants, Inspectors and Support Staff.
The successful candidate will be reporting directly to a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) registered in Manitoba, British Columbia and Ontario.
We provide technical services to 63 First Nations in Manitoba and 198 First Nations in British Columbia. We provide civil infrastructure services such as: Sewer & Water Design, Road Construction Contract Administration, GPS/Total Station Survey (collection & layout), Civil3d 2022 corridor modelling, Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments and Project Management.
Ininew has recently designed projects such as: a First Nation commercial subdivision including earthworks, S&W, and a new road; a MB condominium subdivision including pre-development and post-development watersheds, a W&S gap analysis and detailed S&W design drawing package, and a 40 unit residential subdivision on FN Lands.
Ininew has recently managed construction projects such as: Soil Treatment Facility (STF) and diesel site remediation, Water and Sewer, a new Lagoon, community wide fibre optics infrastructure, Grocery/Gas Bar, Commercial Land Designation, Community Development Plan, Education Centre, Jordan’s Principle Building, Elders Personal Care Home, High School Structural Remediation and other projects. Multiple allocations of housing including developing a new housing construction group for the community. Renovation of a large elders complex substantiated with a building condition assessment, a softball baseball field for the community.
Ininew specializes in the area of residential housing including: Progress Advances, Reno/New Build Cost Estimating, Code Compliance Inspections, Environmental Screening Reviews, Grading Plans, Housing Projects Coordination, Housing Mapping, Sub-Division Development, Housing Project Cost Estimates etc.
The Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

• Assist with on-site contract administration in Civil Engineering and construction support services to our First Nation Clients for new and existing contracts.
• Periodic travel to and meet with First Nation clients as required to complete design assignments.
• Arrange for topographical and legal surveys as required.
• Direct construction, operations, and maintenance activities at project site to monitor progress, prepare field reports, and ensure conformance to design specifications, safety or sanitation standards.
• Prepare estimates of materials, labour and cost to varying levels of accuracy for civil designs from feasibility through to pre-construction.
• Work within a variety of drawing managements systems as determined by Ininew Limited Partnership and their clients.
• Work with company and client standards as applicable.
• Perform all duties accurately and efficiently in order to deliver quality product/service on schedule.
• Participate in writing and editing technical reports and engineering studies.
• Assist with preparing plans and specifications for water and wastewater facilities.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Must graduated from a certificate, diploma or degree program; completed at least two years of working experience in their chosen discipline; and have successfully completed a Professional Practice and Ethics examination.
• Must possess a valid Canadian driver’s license.
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with clients and co-workers in clear, concise, and courteous fashion.
• The ideal candidate demonstrates a high energy level, is motivated and a team player.
• Strong software skills are a key requirement, along with proficiency in mechanics of materials, applied physics and a good understanding of electrical utility practices.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Proven ability to meet deadlines/successful completion of deliverables.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Team and client-focused, with excellent leadership capabilities.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure. It would be advantageous if the candidate has: Experience analyzing survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD software
