More than 600 children have died in the US since 1990 from hot car heat stroke, and the number is much higher for animals. 15 minutes is all it can take, even on a 78° day, for a child or pet to die from heat stroke. To us at Luv-Alert this is just unacceptable and we feel our product can help prevent this type of tragedy. Our device will consist of three parts, with the first two being implemente
d and available right away, and a third that will come to market later. First will be a transmitter that will be attached to the child or pet, and the second will be a FOB (receiver) that will be attached to the parent or pet owners car keys or other personal item that is carried on them. The transmitter will have several attachment options including a bracelet, necklace, or pin-on (for clothing) that can be used for a child. The main options for pets will be a clip-on for their collar or we will offer custom collars that have the transmitter built-in so they will always be protected. The transmitter’s main function will be detecting ambient temperature and transmitting it to the receiver. This means if the temperature gets too high for long enough, or even if the receiver gets too far away in distance, the transmitter will send out the distress call to the receiver alerting the owner or parent that they may have forgotten their loved one. The receiver when a distress signal is received will immediately sound a very loud alarm to get the attention of the responsible party, and hopefully help avoid a very tragic outcome. This system will also come with access to a smartphone application that can be used in tandem with the FOB. This is so that if you for some reason forget your receiver your phone can fill in for it. If you have both of them with you they will both sound when an alarm is received, giving an extra layer of protection. The third aspect of this product is working with car makers around the world to implement connectivity with their vehicles to our system. We plan to accomplish this with Bluetooth® technology, so that the transmitter can wirelessly communicate with the vehicle. This type of platform would open the door to huge upgrades to our product and could create an array of new features. Not only could the responsible party be alerted to danger remotely, the vehicle could be alerted and automatically roll all windows down and sound the car alarm to get attention from bystanders. This would be a full solution and we at Luv-Alert are very excited to move forward and bring this product to market as soon as possible. With our product and partnerships with automakers around the world, we hope to make accidental heat deaths a thing of the past.
