August 12, 2026. Everyone who happened to be along the path where the solar eclipse was visible, even if only partially, did everything they could to admire its beauty and majesty. Special glasses, filters, or protective sheets were used to safeguard their cameras and safely observe this phenomenon. Even I, despite having a slight sore throat, wanted to take part in this ritual by doing one of the things I love most: taking photos and recording videos.

12. August 2026. Jeder, der sich zufällig entlang der Bahn befand, auf der die Sonnenfinsternis zu sehen war – und sei es nur teilweise –, tat alles, um ihre Schönheit und Erhabenheit zu bewundern. Mit Spezialbrillen, Filtern oder Schutzfolien wurden die Kameras geschützt, um dieses Phänomen sicher beobachten zu können. Selbst ich wollte, obwohl ich leichte Halsschmerzen hatte, an diesem Ritual teilnehmen, indem ich eines der Dinge tat, die ich am meisten liebe: Fotos machen und Videos aufnehmen.

While working on the Basel Tattoo portrait project, which I’ve recently shared in some posts, I came across this scene along the banks of the Rhine near Kaserne.

A boat from was towing some wakeboarders, and the beautiful evening light made the moment impossible to ignore.

I couldn’t just walk by without taking a few photos.

When was the last time you felt that way, and what did you end up photographing?

Während ich am Porträtprojekt des Basel Tattoo arbeitete, über das ich in den letzten Tagen einige Beiträge geteilt habe, stieß ich am Rheinufer in der Nähe der Kaserne auf diese Szene.

Ein Boot von zog einige Wakeboarder über den Rhein, und das wunderschöne Abendlicht machte diesen Moment einfach unmöglich zu ignorieren.

Ich konnte einfach nicht vorbeigehen, ohne ein paar Fotos zu machen.

Wann hattet ihr das letzte Mal genau dieses Gefühl, und was habt ihr am Ende fotografiert?

2026 has come to an end, bringing to a close a project that started with a simple idea and turned into an unforgettable experience.

Over the past days, I had the privilege of meeting incredible people from all over the world. Every portrait, every conversation, every smile, and every challenge along the way became part of a journey that I will remember for a long time. Even when things didn’t go according to plan, solving problems through communication, trust, and teamwork made the experience even more rewarding.

What impressed me most was the response from the participants. Seeing so many people genuinely excited to take part, hearing their feedback, and watching them encourage others to join us showed me that this idea had become something much bigger than I had expected.

More importantly, it reminded me how much I enjoy experiencing moments like these.

That’s why I hope this won’t be the last time. Seeing how people embraced this project made me want to continue developing it and bring it to other events in the future.

To everyone who took part in this project, thank you. Your enthusiasm, trust, and genuine excitement transformed a simple idea into an unforgettable experience. I truly hope our paths will cross again.

Your creativity, dedication, and friendship made this journey even more meaningful, and I sincerely hope this is just the first of many projects we’ll create together.

It was a real pleasure to photograph Joe and Luke of the Irish Guards Band.

Thank you both for your genuine enthusiasm and for choosing to take part in this portrait project. Your willingness to step in front of the camera and your positive attitude made this experience truly memorable.

The Irish Guards were formed in 1900 by Queen Victoria in recognition of the bravery of Irish soldiers during the Boer War. Their Regimental Band was established one year later and this year proudly celebrates its 125th anniversary. They are instantly recognisable by the St Patrick’s Blue plume, buttons grouped in fours, and the shamrock worn on the collar.

It was an honour to photograph a small part of this remarkable tradition during the 20th anniversary of Basel Tattoo

Another evening, another unforgettable portrait session in Basel.

This evening, we had the pleasure of photographing members of Blue Devils International performers from 🇳🇴 His Majesty The King’s Guard Band & Drill and 🇴🇲 Royal Guard of Oman as well as members of the 🇨🇭 Schweizer Militärmusik . Every session brings new faces, new stories, and new opportunities to create timeless portraits.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stepped in front of our cameras. Your openness, trust, and enthusiasm continue to make this project an unforgettable experience.

It has been a privilege to document the Pipes and Drums of the 5th/6th Battalion, The Royal Victoria Regiment and Swiss Highlanders Pipes and Drums during their time in Basel for this year’s Basel Tattoo.

Over the past few days, we had the opportunity to create portraits, capture authentic close-up moments, and document the atmosphere surrounding these remarkable musicians. Every performance, every expression, and every detail offered the opportunity to tell a story through photography.

A special thank you to my friend and colleague Myagmarsuren Gantulga.R 🇨🇭. Combining our different photographic approaches allowed us to create a richer and more complete visual narrative. This experience was another reminder that teamwork, creativity, and a shared passion can produce something truly special.

My sincere thanks go to the Pipes and Drums of the 5th/6th Battalion, The Royal Victoria Regiment and the Swiss Highlanders Pipes and Drums for their warmth, trust, and willingness to be part of this project. It was a pleasure photographing you and documenting a small part of your journey in Basel.

I would also like to thank everyone who stopped by our portrait setup, watched with curiosity, shared a smile, or simply took an interest in what we were creating. Moments like these are part of what makes the Basel Tattoo such a unique event.

Vor einigen Wochen erhielt ich eine Anfrage von Architektin Sina Burgener für die fotografische Dokumentation eines Wohnbauprojekts in Biel-Benken.
Was mir von diesem Projekt besonders in Erinnerung bleibt, ist die Art der Zusammenarbeit. Vom ersten Austausch bis zur finalen Bildauswahl war die Kommunikation offen, entspannt und von einem echten Interesse am Projekt geprägt.
Für mich war dieses Projekt auch eine Erinnerung daran, dass gute Architekturfotografie oft darin besteht, die richtige Balance zu finden. Zwischen Atmosphäre und Funktion, zwischen fotografischer Interpretation und den praktischen Anforderungen eines Projekts.
Durch den offenen Austausch konnten wir diese Balance gemeinsam definieren und Bilder schaffen, die sowohl die Architektur vermitteln als auch den kommunikativen Zielen des Projekts gerecht werden.
Ich freue mich, dass die Aufnahmen die Qualitäten des Projekts vermitteln können, und bedanke mich bei Architektin Sina Burgener für die angenehme Zusammenarbeit.

A few weeks ago, I received an inquiry from architect Sina Burgener for the photographic documentation of a residential development in Biel-Benken.
What I will remember most about this project is the way we worked together. From our first conversation to the final image selection, communication was open, relaxed, and shaped by a genuine interest in the project itself.
For me, this project was also a reminder that strong architectural photography is often about finding the right balance. Between atmosphere and function, between photographic interpretation and the practical requirements of a project.
Through an open exchange of ideas, we were able to define that balance together and create images that communicate the architecture while also serving the project's communication goals.
I am pleased that the photographs are able to communicate the qualities of the project, and I would like to thank architect Sina Burgener for the enjoyable collaboration.

Open Haus Basel 2026. Every two years, Basel lets you walk into buildings you would never see from the inside. I spent the weekend visiting as many as I could, camera in hand. Architecture is one of the things I photograph for a living, but days like these remind me why I started in the first place. Here are a few selected images. Full gallery on my website.

Open Haus Basel 2026. Alle zwei Jahre lässt Basel einen Gebäude von innen sehen, die man sonst nie betreten würde. Ich habe das Wochenende damit verbracht, so viele wie möglich zu besuchen, Kamera in der Hand. Architektur ist eines der Dinge, die ich beruflich fotografiere, aber solche Tage erinnern mich daran, warum ich überhaupt damit angefangen habe. Hier eine Auswahl.
