A platinum (950) automatic wristwatch with power reserve and date indication

François-Paul Journe is presented as a pivotal figure in modern independent watchmaking, known for combining traditional horology with major technical innovation. After early restoration work with his uncle in Paris and commissions for major names, he launched his own brand through a subscription model that first produced the Souscription Tourbillon and the Chronomètre à Résonance.

The focus of François Paul Journe then went on the Octa Grande Date Réserve de Marche, one of the earliest cornerstone models of the manufacture. It highlights the Octa calibre 1300 as a breakthrough automatic movement offering 120 hours of power reserve while maintaining chronometric stability thanks to its large balance wheel and compact architecture.

The watch is described as the first model in the Octa line, featuring an off-centre display, large date, and power reserve indicator—elements that became central to the F.P. Journe aesthetic. Overall, the piece is framed as a foundational and highly significant model in Journe’s early career.
