When wildfires break out, a coordinated airspace is crucial. Skyguide helps to keep the sky safe for emergency crews. The current wildfire in Poschiavo is a clear example.

We spoke yesterday with the Domain Manager Zurich Tower & Approach, after Air Force One arrived. He explained how our teams prepared for the mission, how last‑minute changes were handled, and how close coordination with the Secret Service ensured safe and efficient operations – all while continuing to handle regular traffic.

✈ National Future Day at Skyguide – opening our doors for the next generation

Last week, we welcomed over 100 curious children to our locations in Dübendorf, Geneva and our regional aerodromes. This special day gives young people the chance to explore the world of aviation and discover exciting career paths within Skyguide.

They explored our Area Control Centre, experienced the Tower Simulator, and discovered the fascinating air traffic technology that keeps our skies safe. It was a day filled with joy, excitement and great learning opportunities.

A big thank you goes out to the children present and of course to all our colleagues who helped us make this day so special! We are looking forward to opening our doors to many more children next National Future Day!

This week, 63 future Air Traffic Controllers started their journey with us – the largest intake in Skyguide’s history. They’re now beginning an exciting and demanding training to keep our skies safe for the future.

🌱 This International Earth Day, let's celebrate our planet by taking action: join Skyguide in reducing our carbon footprint! Skyguide is preparing for the federal net-zero objective and make a positive impact. To reach this goal, we are also addressing commuting, which accounts for over half of Skyguide’s CO2 emissions. One way of doing so is by encouraging our employees to take part to the bike to work challenge.

🌍 Last year, our teams collectively biked the equivalent to more than a round-the-world trip, and we are not stopping there. This year, we are ready to cut our commuting emissions even further.
