20 – Number of the Day
Back in 2005, I ran out of money to continue my studies in Germany. I had already packed my bags and was ready to head back to the Czech Republic.
By pure chance, I stumbled across a selection process for a triathlon coach position with the Baden-Württemberg junior team. I didn’t meet a single requirement.
Still got the job 😊
On February 1st, 2006, I officially started working as a triathlon coach. That summer, I began working with Ricarda Lisk, who was chasing qualification for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Our very first race together was the 2006 Eilat ITU Premium European Cup.
She won.
Fast forward 20 years. December 2025, IRONMAN 70.3 Bahrain — Pieter Heemeryck finishes third.
Everything in between adds up to a pretty special 20-year journey. For 20 consecutive years, at least one of my professional athletes has stepped onto the podium at an international race (ITU, IRONMAN, Challenge, PTO, T100).
Some numbers:
• 167 podium finishes
• 63 victories
• 3 World Championship titles (Sebastian Kienle)
• 7 European Championship titles (Sebastian Kienle, Andi Böcherer, Richard Varga, Ricarda Lisk)
• 1 African Championship title (Maurice Clavel)
• 20 professional athletes coached to international podiums
