Field days make all the difference!

Yoav Rosen and Dr. Jan Koesling from were on the ground in Cần Giờ, Vietnam, alongside Ms. Nguyen Truc Phuong as part of our ongoing project with .

Engaging directly with farm operations gives us crucial insight into real-world mineral management. By connecting pond-side realities with Agrocel’s specialized minerals, we are developing practical, high-impact protocols that farmers can seamlessly apply in the field.

Thank you to everyone involved for the productive exchanges and shared commitment to resilient aquaculture.

As carp aquaculture delivers a significant contribution of worldwide. The crustacean ectoparasite Argulus (fish louse) is more than a nuisance – it’s a yield killer and an economic drag. On Indian carp farms, Argulus infections can reduce growth by 15–30%, increase mortality by 5–15% and slash yields by 20–40%. Such losses translate into millions of dollars globally each year, hurting farmers and constraining supply.

The difficulty lies in the parasite’s biology and our current tools. Argulus lays eggs that stick to pond surfaces and hatch over weeks, leading to recurring infestations that evade treatments. Today’s adulticides (organophosphates, pyrethroids, macrocyclic lactones) knock down visible lice but leave eggs untouched and carry withdrawal and residue issues. Sustainable alternatives remain at the research stage and require robust safety, efficacy and environmental data. Regulatory pathways for new fish health products add cost and time.

To secure the future of carp aquaculture, we need integrated strategies that combine targeted therapeutics with improved pond management, species‑specific immunity and sustainable feeds. Collaboration among scientists, farmers, investors and regulators is critical to deliver recurrence‑breaking solutions.

Exploring the potential of phage technology in aquaculture 🧫🧬

As we continue to share insights from our recent meetings at World Aquaculture Singapore, one of our key technical discussions focused on the evolving landscape of biosecurity and disease management.

Dr. Ra'anan Ariav and Dr. Eran Hadas spent time connecting with Daniel Grunberg and David Van from Shandong New-line Biotech Co.,Ltd.

The conversation centered on the practical implementation of bacteriophages—or phages—as a targeted, natural tool to manage bacterial challenges in shrimp and fish hatcheries and grow-out ponds. For The Aqua Consortium, tracking the development of reliable alternative therapeutics is a core part of building resilient, antibiotic-free production protocols for our clients.

It was an excellent opportunity to align with a team focused on innovative biological solutions. Thanks to Daniel and David for a very engaging exchange.

Securing the foundation of larval nutrition: Artemia insights from 🦐🔬

As we continue to process the key takeaways from our time at World Aquaculture Singapore, one conversation stands out regarding the very beginning of the production cycle: hatchery success and larval nutrition.

The Aqua Consortium’s leadership team, Dr. Ra'anan Ariav and Dr. Eran Hadas, had a highly productive meeting with Khimchenko from , a prominent global provider of high-quality Artemia cysts.

Artemia remains an irreplaceable cornerstone for biosecure, high-performance fish and shrimp hatcheries worldwide. Our discussion focused on the current global supply dynamics, maximizing hatching efficiency, and ensuring the absolute highest biosecurity standards for the live feeds entering our clients' systems.

At The Aqua Consortium, we know that a successful harvest starts in the hatchery. Aligning with reliable, quality-focused partners like Arsal ensures we can continue delivering robust, precision protocols to operations globally.

Thank you, Olga, for a fantastic exchange of expertise!
