I started in commission-only sales…
at a company that was barely staying alive.
No leads.
No structure.
No real path forward.
Every month felt like survival.
At the time, I thought it was normal.
I thought struggling meant I was “earning it.”
I was wrong.
Years later, I’m signing global deals at Warner Bros Discovery.
And looking back, there are 3 things I wish I understood sooner:
1. The company matters more than your skill
You can be a great closer in a bad system and still lose.
2. A base salary isn’t a luxury
It’s a signal the company believes in its product and its pipeline.
3. You don’t need to start at the bottom
If you position yourself correctly, you can move up much faster than you think.
Sales didn’t change.
My environment did.
And that changed everything.
