As our connectUS 2026 experience wraps up, we take a moment to reflect on an unforgettable journey.

Looking back, this journey was shaped by dynamic cityscapes, thought-provoking discussions, and unforgettable moments shared along the way - from engaging with innovative organizations to experiencing everyday life across Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec, and Montreal. What we take with us goes far beyond the itinerary: new perspectives, lasting friendships, and memories that will continue to inspire us.

Teamwork makes the dream work ✨

Throughout the journey, participants of connectUS engaged in moments of reflection and exchange - from structured sessions to open discussions and shared perspectives.

These spaces allowed participants to connect, challenge ideas, and learn from each other across different backgrounds. It showed how important it is to not only experience, but also take time to reflect together.

Because meaningful insights often emerge in the moments we pause and share perspectives.

Zero Emission isn’t a destination - it’s a mindset.

As part of our seminar abroad in Canada, we explored what sustainability really means in practice.

From traveling between Toronto, Ottawa, Québec City, and Montréal mostly by bus, to consciously using public transport and walking whenever possible, we tried to reduce our footprint, even though the journey itself started with a long-distance flight.

Because that’s the reality:
Zero emission is not about being perfect. It’s about making better choices along the way.

Through workshops like the mobility hubs session by movmi and insights from the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), we learned how cities are rethinking mobility, combining public transport, shared systems, and urban design to create more sustainable environments.

At FHNW, Zero Emission goes far beyond just CO₂ - it’s about rethinking systems, behaviors, and the way we move through the world.

And that’s exactly what this experience showed us:

👉 Sustainability happens in the small decisions
👉 Mobility shapes how cities - and we - function
👉 And progress starts with awareness, not perfection

From buses to boardrooms, from city walks to classroom insights, every step counts.
