It's about leadership.
The demagogues, the populists are having their prime time, they are claiming the stage for themselves. Nobody seems to have the cojones to stand up against them, to take responsability. Everything seems to be tolerable. Everybody is afraid of making somebody angry. The situation reminds me of the time before the 2nd World War, Neville Chamberlain appeasing the Germans, the politicians of the world wetting their pants with fear they might offend Mr Schicklgruber, willing to pay any price for the peace which wasn’t acheived after all anyway.
Of course, Turkey is a strategic partner of Europe, we can’t afford to make Mr Erdogan angry. Of course, Poland is a member of the EU, we can’t possibly interfere with them although they don’t give a toss about the seperation of powers. Of course, we mustn’t upset Mr Putin, after all he’s a supplier of gas and oil. Of course, we have to be quite careful about how we treat the Emirates, they are respectable business partners after all. Let us be disgusted, outraged with what is going on, let us take the lead, let us use plain language, let us speak the way Lt Gen Jay Silveria did to his cadets. Let us say like him „Get out“ to those who are not willing to accept the rules of decency, be it in the local pub or on duty as a politician.
Watch the video. Let us try to be as clear and as plain as Lt Gen Jay Silveria. Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfjZ1otkS3o
