"7000 RMB, thanks!". This is a reply from a Chinese cybersquatter after receiving a cease and desist letter, that requests the individual to refrain from using a domain name containing a trademark. 7000 RMB, is a strategic price, as it would be lower than the cost of going through a ccTLD Dispute Resolution Policy (CNDRP) which governs the.CN (and .中国) domain endings in China. But what if you can avoid paying 7000 RMB and request the domain to be transferred at no cost? Our colleague Niklas Fridman, argues in this article that China’s Anti-Unfair Competition Law have given brand owners a stronger tool to combat cybersquatting, and give you all the information needed to successfully fight cybersquatting in China.

Like a fresh breeze on a hot summer night, Cristin Perciuleac joined our brand protection team on April 4th last year as a part-time brand protection analyst. Cristin is the type of guy who would pick up a thrown away-boarding pass, and simply out of curiosity assess whether the private data of the individual could be received.... Note to self* do not throw away your boarding pass in public bins or post them on your Social Media channels ;). Curiosity is not the only characteristic that defines Cristin, hardworking, good work ethics, fun and always ready to help are a few more that "completes" the picture of Cristin. The first one, is to our colleague Zuzia Sęczkowska who received the highest grade today (12!) on her Master thesis "Social commerce: is it the next chapter of e-commerce? A comprehensive study of social commerce in China". Well done! The second congratulation we hand out to ourselves...for signing Zuzanna as a full-time employee starting from today, yihaa. Zuzanna speaks and reads Mandarin Chinese fluently, but most importantly has a detective intuition like a sixth sense - leaving nothing unnoticed. We are very happy to have you onboard Zuzanna!
