The AfD (Alternative for Germany) from the very right of the political spectrum won a spectacular victory with 44% of the vote. This is even a bit better than the last surveys before the election had....

The far-right AfD could win power in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt tomorrow, or at least come close to it. That would have implications way beyond the state and possibly for chancellor Merz. My statement picked up by Yahoo News:
