The Swiss job market is stagnating – with 3% fewer job postings compared to the same quarter last year (Q2/2024).
A comparison of the half-year figures (2024/2025) shows significant declines across many professional fields – particularly in IT roles (-31%) and administrative or commercial occupations (-24%). In contrast, demand in the health and social care sector remains stable. Person-oriented service professions – such as care and support work – have even seen a 7% increase.
📉 This development is closely linked to demographic change: the retirement of the baby boomer generation is creating a shortage of skilled labour, while the need for care and support services continues to grow. It’s a structural trend that will shape the Swiss labour market for years to come.
This study was conducted in collaboration with the Swiss Job Market Monitor of the University of Zurich.
