MALVAUX N°1 × Bending the icon.

was founded in the homeland of Swiss precision mechanics, the Jura region around the city of Biel by Thilo Alex Brunner, Gérald Marolf and Oliver Laubscher. Although we all love the classic Swiss Army knife, it has two weak spots: Its ergonomics and the opening of the blade. Malvaux has tackled these issues by re-designing the knife from scratch. The result: A bent knife. The blade can be opened without the classic fingernail struggle and every cut is upmost precise. The knife sits perfectly in the hand. Tradition re-interpreted. A new icon, a proper strong ultra sharp pocket knife.

ON URBAN × Perform all day, every day.

On Running is founded in 2009 in Zurich and launches the «Cloudtec®» technology platform for running shoe outsoles. A soft landing and a hard push-off is the unique pitch of the brand. Thilo has started working with the On founders some months before the brand was even born. Together they elaborated the product design language of the brand. To design shoes which deliver a performance statement yet are not overcharged has been a key design thought from the early days. While focussing entirely on shoes during the first few years, an apparel and textile accessory collection was added to the brands portfolio in 2015. Until today, both segments, shoes and apparel, see a significant number of products being added every year, all designed by the same team.

Hot & Cold ONE adds to the existing SIGG Hot & Cold collection. It features the double-walled insulation of our Hot & Cold design, combining it with easy-to-use one hand opening. The top is inspired by SIGG’s iconic shape. It allows easy drinking while on the move - safely locked after use. ON APPAREL × Engineered simplicity.

As a natural extension to On’s shoes, BMCO has designed the On Apparel collections, focusing on running wear essentials. We tend to think that it takes a lot of effort to make something that seems effortless. Highly technical & functionally driven, all pieces use design cues from various streetwear classics from Mackintosh jacket to sweatpants and a muted color palette to blend into the urban environment. The result is what Thilo calls his ideal design business case: «Collaborating with and learning from an ambitious, innovative business team with a vision; enjoying full freedom and responsibility given to the designer; and showing what applying a design strategy and a design language consequently to a whole product range can do for a brand».

RIVR MEDICAL CAMPUS × Aesthetics of confidence.

When it came to the planning, implementation and furnishing of the RIVR Clinc, the client’s aim was to relieve patients' fear of a doctor's appointment by providing an inspiring and mindful environment. Despite the evident relation between cosmetic clinics and aesthetics, most don’t manage to make an adequate link between the two. Jörg approached the task by asking unconventional questions: Which materials are atypical in this context and yet perfectly fulfill the visual and functional requirements? The resulting atmosphere is an inspiring mix of confidence and relaxation, while keeping the medical aspects trustful and transparent.

WENGER TITANIUM × The alpine Swiss Knife.

A line of three Swiss Army Knives commissioned by . The genuine Swiss Army Knife, as a result of Thilo's earlier proposals to the company. The flagship of the collection is the «Ueli Steck» pro model. Steck was one of the world's top climbers and defined the functions of the knife that are all dedicated to alpinism. The covers of the knife are made in titanium, the blades in Wenger blade steel. Standard bits can be inserted into the knife. It was extremely delighting to add another knife with metal handles - after many of them in plastic - to the Wenger range.

The harnesses for include a great deal of tricky functionality that has to be guaranteed in any situation. While security aspects like for example the emergency parachute are treated by the engineers, BMCO guarantees for a coherent appearance that goes with the glider collection - and from time to time there is an aesthetic improvement that finally leads to aerodynamic improvement too. VOLLEYBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY × The winning twelve.

Most world cup trophies are created by sculptors. The has proven its progressive attitude by commissioning BMCO to create the new FIVB world cup trophy. It most probably is the first major championship trophy that has such a close link to contemporary design. Being offered to design such an exclusive one off, BMCO worked with the most skilled craftsmen to make an almost «impossible» milling piece, representing Swiss mechanics at its best. Highlighting how far Swiss Made precision can go. Working with valuable materials and coatings. We took all these ingredients and created a trophy which visualizes how perfectly a team of twelve players has to harmonize to win the title of world champions.

After 150 years of creative break, the court purveyor of the Austrian Emperor is back. Carl Suchy & Söhne is being brought back to life, continuing where Suchy had stopped - at the verge of the Viennese Modernism, defined by . The Waltz N°1 combines Swiss Precision with Viennese Elegance, introducing a waltzing guilloché seconds disc with a reminder that not every second counts. Miloš was in charge for the design of the watch, which defined the vision and identity of the brand. is reintroduced by the curator and entrepreneur , with the visual support of .me. It is completely manufactured in Switzerland and hand-assembled by , a 3rd generation master watchmaker. It is powered by an exquisite, super thin, automatic, micro-rotor Fleurier caliber.

SIGG Hot & Cold × The icon, insulated.

Re-designing an icon is probably one of the biggest honors and one of the most difficult commissions a designer can wish for. BMCO has designed the first ever series of thermo bottles for Swiss heritage brand . With the famous classic SIGG aluminum bottle in mind, it was all about implementing state of the art thermos insulation technique into a simple, yet contemporary shape which pays homage to the original, yet being a potential new classic. What looks simple was technically very challenging. BMCO is very happy of being part of this milestone project for SIGG called «Hot & Cold».

ON HEADQUARTERS × The dynamic office.

With moving to a new location in the uprising Zürich West, BMCO joined forces to have a new take on office design. The core idea was to create a free flowing office making the most of the wast space stretching more than 100 meters long. It’s an open office On Style: from the large workbenches in one end to the lounge & kitchen in the other, the layout has been designed to generate improvised encounters. The result of the collaboration is what Thilo calls his ideal design business case: «Collaborating with and learning from an ambitious, innovative business team with a vision; enjoying full freedom and responsibility given to the designer; and showing what applying a design strategy and a design language consequently to a whole product range can do for a brand».
