My personal highlight of last Saturdays Swiss Orienteering Mapping Convention was former Elite Runner Matthias Merz addressing all these present issues in o- mapping nowadays mainly the tendency to over-detail maps and print issues. A successful combination of authority and clarity it was.

In batch mode karttapullautin is generating a 125m buffer around the tile, in case a neighboring tile is available. This is of course smart, but for further usage of the contour lines these overlaps should be clipped away under the generation of the out2.dxf. Is there a way to influence this in KP directly or is there another known workflow to get rid of these overlaps?

Everbody knows, the WOC 2016 will have a map problem http://www.orienterare.nu/t/1941 but nobody can do something about this. SOFT has no theeth, IOF/Jörn will enter to late into the process (WOC2011, WOC 2014) and me and Jarkko will bash the maps.... routine....

Yesterday I ran on was Langholz Ost by Urs Steiner. Here the most striking was that he modified the symbol for small erosion gully using smaller gaps as defined in the ISOM (reducing by 0.1mm; 1:10K)...
what

1) Made these gullies inappropriately prominent on the map in regard to their insignificance in the terrain (being often less than 50cm deep).

2) Made it partly hard to read the relief.

3) Reduced the differentiability between small erosion gully and index contour.

Somehow this example once again endorses the ISOM

Today I ran on the map Seckwald-Buttenberg by Beni Deppeler and Daniel Klauser used for Aargauer 3 Tage OL. The map is pretty good in general. Especially the vegetation-mapping I liked much.
The thing to learn from this map is something about the use of form lines though. Some (not few) are of very little use but bad for the bigger picture of the terrain (due to steepness illusion and legibility issues)
