YOU ARE BORN TO DO GREAT THINGS {PART 3}

IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO BEGIN
DR. SUNDAY ADELAJA

Perhaps you have now made up your mind to take up a responsibility but you are confronted with a discouragement arising from not realizing these facts earlier or starting too late, I can assure you have got nothing to worry about. Time favors everyone whenever he/she is determined to take on a challenge regardless time slot. It’s never too late. You are never too late to begin.

There is a popular adage that ‘the best time to plant a tree was ten years ago, another best time is now’!

History had taught us enough to know that all champions face one fear or the other irrespective of time, but they rode on the back of their fear to fortunes. Fear is a mirage; it holds no water.

The fear of timing has eroded many of the opportunities to fulfill their divine purpose but not Taiwo Abiri, an economics turned millionaire motor mechanics.

Nigeria’s auto mobile industry like other sectors has been plagued by challenges for decades. Majority of vehicle users are dissatisfied about the standards of mechanics repairing their vehicles. A recent Independent survey by a group of businessmen in Abuja show that more than 70% of people in both the urban and rural areas who patronise the services of motor mechanics are dissatisfied with high-cost, low-quality repair and maintenance works from manual handling mechanics.

Beside the problems of low quality, there were problems of poor time delivery. You can be sure that if a Nigerian mechanic promises you three-hour delivery, it might take thirteen hours. Similarly, due to trial and error mode of troubleshooting, you may be forced to pay for replacement of parts that are not faulty. You can also be unlucky to have your car issue more complicated as a result of use of fake parts by the mechanics.

Added to these problems of unprofessionalism is the wide gap created by lack of mobile mechanics. An average busy ‘big car user’ prefers a mobile mechanic workshop service whereby a mechanic can come and render home services or timely emergency service should motor breakdown on the road. All these were the missing links creating frustration in auto mobile industry.

The Nigerian university education system should have provided a reliable alternative by producing quality graduates of mechanical engineering department, but unfortunately, the mechanical engineers and their lecturers also get frustrated and complain too. They are only armed with theoretical knowledge and can hardly hold a spanner.

Growing up, Taiwo had probably experienced the mechanic frustrations directly or indirectly and longed to solve the problems someday. His desire hit a brick wall as circumstances surrounding him made him study economics in the Obafemi Awolowo University. He could have studied mechanical engineering to actualize his dreams but condition denied him.

Upon graduation from university, still consumed by his passion to address auto mobile challenge, he wanted to go to a technical school in the U.S. with a view to learn vehicle repairs but he couldn’t because his parents disapproved. They preferred he pursued a Master in Business Administration to earn him a good job. With the parent’s refusal to sponsor him, he lost the admission and the time again. They cut short his dream because of the way society looked down on road side auto-mechanics. He appeared to have lost the dream for ever.

Frustrated, he initially resigned to fate by picking a job at a real estate firm after completing one-year national service under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Not deterred by the loss of times and opportunities to contribute to solving one of the nation’s problems, he took to YouTube to learning how to repair cars. For years he continued to watch YouTube videos on vehicle repairs and tried some hands on many times on those technical procedures learnt on YouTube. In fact, Taiwo reported that the first engine oil he changed for a car was done following step by step procedure learnt on the YouTube videos. The video streaming played the most critical role in his life as it provided him a cheap platform to boost his chance of realizing his long and almost aborted dream. Many years of watching the videos coupled with reading a lot of books about how automobiles work and repaired increased his interest in vehicle repairs. Therefore, he abandoned the MBA his parents opted to sponsor for his passion of problem solving.

After a few years, Taiwo resigned his good job and enrolled for mechanic’s apprenticeship at a garage owned by some Lebanese on the Lekki-Epe axis, Lagos. He hid his identity as a university graduate in order to be treated and trained the crude way like anyone else. Though he had earlier lost reasonable time, he remained focused approximately for another two years at the Lebanese apprentice school, where he learnt and worked without any pay. Taiwo graduated from the apprentice school, registered and opened his auto-repair company, Motomi.

Rather than complaining about frustration encountered in the hand of manual road side mechanics and reluctance of the government to do something to standardize auto mechanic industry in the country, he personally championed the course to free people of Lagos state and Nigeria at large from the shackles of unprofessionalism of road side mechanics, even though it came later than he had intended. Unlike the road side mechanic services, Taiwo’s company offer accurate and quality repairs with total regards for clients’ time, dignity and money.

Although he began the car repair business with friends and families as clients’ base, Taiwo is now a CEO of a young company, Motomi, that can boast of several reputable corporate clients including: Century Energy, Four Points, Sheraton, Falcon Gas, AA Rescue, Structon Construction Company, Computer Warehouse Group, among many others.

The long expectation for an all-times servicing will soon be met as Motomi plans to launch Express 24/7 to ensure clients are served round the clock.

He once told reporters ‘Clients can invite us and expect us to get to them in record time to fix their vehicles; whether their cars broke up on the highway or the fault happened while they were at home.”

In the year 2015, the company, while providing solution to the problems of the society, made a revenue of N25 million ($126,000) at his makeshift shop. He later moved to a bigger place towards the end of the year as a result of expansion.

Taiwo’s story above demonstrates that though time is important, it is never too late to start, never too late to complete, just do something positive, the world is waiting for you. Start with what you have now!

To be continued Tomorrow, don’t miss it.

Title: Getting To Your Next Level (Part 2C)
Matthew 4:19 (NIV) 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
Theme: what can I do and where am I going?
Ladies and gentlemen I bring you greetings from my heart to your heart. I am so happy to be the vessel being used by the lord almighty to send you this message that will inspire us to take a step forward to become who He created us to become. When God created the earth, He gave man ruler ship over it. God gave man the responsibility to influence earth with heaven’s culture. Man was to replicate heaven on earth thus expanding God’s dominion. When man sinned, the entire program was aborted. Man started operating void of a connection between him and his source. The relationship that existed between God and man before was destroyed. The ground from which man came out from and was given responsibility to take care and protect was cursed. This implies for the earth to fulfill the purpose for which God created it, the man who was given the responsibility to manage it had to first be restored so he can also restore the ground that was cursed because of his disobedience. The coming of Jesus Christ began the restoration process. The birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ completed man’s restoration process. Man was redeemed from his fallen nature. The broken relationship that existed between man and God was restored. Jesus Christ gave back to man the dominion mandate over earth. This implies the restored man was reinstated to his original assignment to fix the messes we have in every area of life on earth today. When you look around you today, what challenges do you see facing humanity? When you look around you, what are the cries of the people in our neighborhood, community, nation and the world?
As for me I can see a world full with multiple issues facing humanity.
#1. Hunger: The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) estimates that about 815 million people of the 7.6 billion people in the world, or 10.7%, were suffering from chronic undernourishment in 2016. Almost all the hungry people live in lower-middle-income countries. There are 11 million people undernourished in developed countries
#2. Homelessness: It is estimated that 150 million people are homeless worldwide. Habitat for Humanity estimated in 2015 that 1.6 billion people around the world live in "inadequate shelter". Homelessness among vulnerable groups has also increased by 75% since 2010 (Shelter, 2019). On any given night, there are 4,000 people sleeping rough (Shelter, 2019). Households in temporary accommodation has risen from 48,330 in 2011 to 78,170 in 2017 (EOH, 2018).
#3 water scarcity: The United Nations has long been addressing the global crisis caused by insufficient water supply to satisfy basic human needs and growing demands on the world's water resources to meet human, commercial and agricultural needs. Climate change, such as altered weather-patterns (including droughts or floods), deforestation, increased pollution, green house gases, and wasteful use of water can cause insufficient supply. ... All causes of water scarcity are related to human interference with the water cycle.
#4. Illnesses and diseases: The world is facing multiple health challenges. These range from outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases like measles and diphtheria, increasing reports of drug-resistant pathogens, growing rates of obesity and physical inactivity to the health impacts of environmental pollution and climate change and multiple humanitarian crises.
#5. Crime: More than 10.35 million people are held in penal institutions throughout the world according to the latest edition of the World Prison Population List (WPPL), researched and compiled by Roy Walmsley and published on Wednesday 3 February by the Institute for Criminal Policy Research, at Birkbeck, University of London.
As restored individuals we are called to provide solutions to the multiple challenges plaguing humanity on a daily basis. Each and every one of us carries the solution to humanity challenges in every area. God deposited in us what it takes to bring every situation under our control. No single individual on planet earth is empty. Deep inside of us is power that is lying dormant waiting for activation to enhance our thinking, reasoning, imaginative and creative faculties to provide innovative solutions to the challenges facing humanity in every area of life. Once we begin the journey of providing solutions to humanity’s problem, then we are on our way to the next level. Getting to our next level means building a legacy that we will be remembered for once we live this physical planet. Our next level regarding where we are heading to is directly related to what we do in the present age. We have been saved and our relationship with God restored therefore it is time for us to move to our next level by getting back to our original assignment of working and taking care of the planet earth. To fill the planet with God’s influence.

Title: Getting To Your Next Level (Part 1B)
Matthew 4:19 (NIV) 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
When we were young, even most of us today still believe that anything that happens to us as a misfortune is because the gods of our ancestors are angry. This is as a result of the information that was planted into our minds by our parents and grandparents. In a normal African setting parents will always take their kids to the shrines and a talisman is prepared and given to them to tie around their waist or put in their pockets. They must make sure they carry it around always for protection. Any form of misfortune was attributed to witchcraft until today we spend time killing spirits from our father’s house, from our mother’s house, from our grandparents and great grandparent’s background. The church of today has further instilled fear in us to believe that our misfortunes and non-progress in life is being hindered by these spirits. Honestly I am so worried with his believe system. So many people have given up on life and themselves because of this kind of thinking. When we want something and it doesn’t’ go the way we want, instead of seeking knowledge we turn to blame spirits that may not even exist
Come in the above bible verse as a change of position from our preconceived ideas about us to our next level simply needs a shift in our thinking to the right direction. The bible tells us that if any man is in Christ he is a new creation; old things have passed away and everything has become new. Ladies and gentlemen our lord Jesus Christ defeated the devil; he bore every sin and anything that could hinder us from getting to our next level and nailed it on the cross. He died and was buried; he descended into hell and made a public disgrace of the devil. He collected the keys of our destinies from the devil and handed it back to us.
Ladies and gentlemen we don’t have anything to do with the past. Everything that could hold us captive from getting to our next level was destroyed by Christ Jesus. I have good news for you. Nothing can stop you from becoming who God created you to become. You are the only person to stop yourself. As you go out today walk with your head up. Say to yourself I am a winner. I am a victor. I am a blessing. I will produce my fruit in due season in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen

Title: Getting To Your Next Level (Part 1A)
Matthew 4:19 (NIV) 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
Ladies and gentlemen accept greetings from me to you. I am very delighted to share with you insights that will inspire you and activate the inert power dormant inside of you to catapult you to your next level. In the above bible verse we see a command COME. Come is an action word. Come simply means a change of position. Come means leaving one place to another. This implies a change of location. Come in other words also means abandoning our preconceived ideas about ourselves and seeing the new and bigger picture about ourselves. Let us examine COME in terms of change in location. We are a product of the environment in which we find ourselves. The people you interact with in our environment will determine how well our life will be. If the people around you are heading nowhere then definitely your life will be going nowhere; if you continue to hang out with them. If the people you interact with are lazy then your life will be stagnant and miserable. If the people around you are dream killers then your destiny will be aborted because this people will talk you out of your dream. They will keep saying things like this; who are you and what do you think you are? You can never make it. Nothing good can came out of you. Note! these are dream killers. They are vision destroyers. These are people who will abort the plan and purposes of God for your life.

Secondly COME with regards to environment also means change of location. We might be struggling on some issues in a particular location not because the devil is behind you but because that might not be where God planned and purposed us to fulfill our destiny. In such a situation you will need the spirit of discernment that will enable you to make the right choices or decision in other to change location so you can get to the next level of your life. Change of geographical location will lead to meeting new people with new mindsets, networking with visionaries who will inspire and activate the dormant power inside of you into action. It is often said the harvest is determine by the kind of soil in which you plant your seed. Ladies and gentlemen, if you plan your seed in the right environment so too will be your harvest.

Conclusion: Place yourself in the right environment and automatically you are on your way to our next level.

Ultimately, leadership is not about glorious crowning acts. It's about keeping your team focused on a goal and motivated to do their best to achieve it, especially when the stakes are high and the consequences really matter. It is about laying the groundwork for others' success, and then standing back and letting them shine.

The way you think and feel about yourself, including your beliefs and expectations about what is possible for you, determines everything that happens to you. When you change the quality of your thinking, you change the quality of your life, sometimes instantly.
