Our waste management initiative continues to gain momentum as we tackle the vital task of cleaning Buea’s waterways. By removing accumulated debris and silt, we are actively preventing the flash floods and pollution that threaten our municipality.

Today, we achieved a significant milestone by completing the cleanup of Checkpoint, one of Molyko's most essential and busy hubs. The transformation is visible, but our mission is far from over. We are now setting our sights on next Wednesday, as we continue our efforts toward the GCE Board area. Together, we are clearing the path for a safer, cleaner Buea.

Today at Checkpoint, Molyko, Buea, we did it big again. The local population stood tall and was amazed by the incredible turnout of our team, all united to restore our city's beauty.

In a powerful collaboration, we joined forces with Buea’s top artists and digital content creators, bridging environmental action with creative influence to amplify our mission. By clearing waste and sweeping the streets together, we proved that civic pride is truly contagious. Our message remains loud and unwavering: Buea must be clean again! Join us as we build a healthier, brighter future for everyone. we meet again tomorrow for the clean-up

As the rainy season approaches, blocked gutters pose a severe risk of flash floods, property damage, and health hazards. By removing accumulated debris and silt, we ensure that rainwater flows freely, protecting our homes and businesses. A clean drainage system is vital for community resilience. BleagLee, a homegrown Cameroonian startup co-founded by Juveline Ngum, just won a $1 million grand prize (~558M FCFA) at the Milken-Motsepe Prize in AI & Manufacturing, beating 2,000+ entrepreneurs from 100 countries across 5 continents!

Here's all you need to know about BleagLee waste management 👇🏿

It started with a powerful idea, building a smart cooking system made entirely from recycled materials.

A smokeless cook stove crafted from scrap metal, clean cooking fuel produced in solar-powered bio-digesters from plastic & agricultural waste, and a digital platform for cooks to track & offset their carbon footprint.

The stoves are 80% cheaper than firewood, cook food 5x faster than traditional Cameroonian ovens, & even monitor indoor air quality using AI-powered sensors because indoor air pollution kills between 1.6 and 4 million people globally every year.

BleagLee also trains women in communities to source scrap metal and build the stoves themselves, turning users into makers.

Now?

Bleaglee has levelled up. Using patented AI that detects, collects and converts plastic, agricultural and e-waste into premium industrial products like engineered recycled polymers, 3D printing filaments, and bio-based carbon materials.

Their mission: (eliminate 300 million tons of CO₂-equivalent emissions by 2030.)

Gallo Lungo: The Dolphin Island of Myth and Art

Gallo Lungo is the largest island of Italy’s Li Galli archipelago, famous for its striking aerial resemblance to a dolphin. Nestled off the Amalfi Coast, this rugged, private paradise features steep cliffs, lush Mediterranean greenery, and luxury villas surrounding a medieval watchtower built in the 14th century to guard against pirate raids.

Steeped in Greek mythology, the island was originally known as Sirenuse. According to legend, it was the home of the Sirens—mythological creatures whose enchanting songs lured sailors to their doom. It is here that the hero Odysseus famously tied himself to his ship’s mast to listen to their music safely.

In the 20th century, the island became a sanctuary for legendary ballet dancers. Russian choreographer Leonide Massine transformed the ancient tower into a residence in the 1920s, and Rudolf Nureyev later purchased it in 1988, decorating the villas with exquisite mosaics. Today, Gallo Lungo remains an ultra-exclusive private retreat within a protected marine reserve, seamlessly blending ancient mythology with modern artistic history.
