It is truly heartwarming to see the recent changes taking place within the education space in Cameroon, with many higher institutes of learning and even primary schools gradually adopting a more competence-based approach to education.
For years, we have focused heavily on learning theories, memorising concepts, and passing examinations, while often having very little practical competence to offer as solutions to industries and society at large.
Education should not only be about what you know. It should also be about what you can do with what you know.
This is why more schools and learning platforms need to embrace a competence-based approach to education—one that equips learners with the practical skills, problem-solving abilities, creativity, and confidence required to create value in the real world.
At Simplified Learning Academy, we are pushing hard to ensure that our learners don't simply acquire knowledge, but become competent enough to apply that knowledge and solve real problems.
It is encouraging to see that government efforts are also increasingly reflecting an awareness of this need. That is a positive development for Cameroon.
The future of education is not just about producing people who know more.
It is about producing people who can do more.
