The zenith of pain

A gentle soul, beset by love's cruel fate
Found himself entangled in a web of deceit
His fiancée, swayed by familial design
Did relinquish her affection, and align with wealth's cold line

Her family, driven by ambition's stern decree
Did orchestrate her departure, with calculated cruelty
They introduced her to another, with riches to bestow
And in his arms, she found a fleeting solace to know

With candor, she revealed the truth to him
A tactic, perhaps, to make him drift away within
No subterfuge, just an unveiled disclosure
To sever ties, and end their love's precarious allure

But he, enamored, refused to let go
His love, a maelstrom, that would not ebb or flow
He loved her more, than himself, it would seem
A selfless devotion, that bordered on extreme

Yet, as the seasons passed, and wisdom's lessons sank
He learned to reevaluate, and his own worth to bank
If she were to repeat, the same perfidious deed
He'd find the strength, to walk away, and plant his feet

With time, he rose above, the heartache and the pain
And discovered a newfound love, for himself, to sustain
A gentle soul, who'd weathered love's fierce storm
Emerging stronger, with a heart that's reformed.

The real picture
A man stands alone, in pain and need
His own flesh and blood, his greatest creed
They quote him lazy, with a callous tone
Ignoring his cries, as they leave him to atone

Despite his struggles, he's humble and kind
A heart of gold, that's always on his mind
Though his pockets are empty, his spirit is bright
He'd give his last dime, to help others in plight

His calls go unanswered, his messages unseen
They skip his pleas, with a dismissive sheen
But when they need him, he's always there
A helping hand, without a single care

He's the first to lend, a listening ear
A comforting word, to those who fear
Though he's struggling, his goodwill abounds
A generous spirit, that's always found

Yet when he calls, in his darkest night
They resurrect the lazy claim, a cruel sight
The very family, that should be his shore
Leaves him to struggle, forever more
