I recently went for an early morning drive and picked up a small-scale businesswoman named "Buyam Sellam". Despite the cold weather, a handful of them were lined up on the road ready to face the day. I offered to give her a lift, and as we drove to the market, I took the opportunity to get to know her. I'll refer to her as "Ma Maggi".
Ma Maggi wakes up every day at 4:30 am and by 5:45 am she's off to the market. She sets up her marketplace and rushes off to collect fish from her friend who dries them. Then she'll sell them and they'll split the profit, which is how she makes money to feed her family.
As she explained the process to me passionately, I was curious to know why she didn't just set up her own business using the profits she made. However, she told me she prefers to stick to what she knows. 🤯
Yeah I know😀, can't stop thinking about it .... story for another day!
Today, I bring some other exciting news for rural women in business like Ma Maggi and aspiring businesswomen who lack the resources and support to start or scale their businesses. Join us at the Empowering Rural Businesswomen event happening from March 14th - 16th, at 10 am daily, at the Victoria Guest House hall in Limbe!
If you are Ma Maggi or you happen to know one, tell her about this opportunity. Regardless, get ready to be equipped with the tools, knowledge, and support you need to thrive in your business.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to start and grow your own business! See you there! 🌍💪
