This Saturday is World Su***de Prevention Day.

We will be sharing a number of resources over the next few days.

About 700 thousand people a year take their life around the world.

Alarmingly as well, for every su***de, it is estimated that there are 20 other people making a su***de attempt. And many more have had suicidal thoughts.

There are innumerable causes for someone to commit su***de, attempt to commit su***de or even think about it.

And these days when mental health is at an all time impacted by the implications of COVID and many other factors, when people are grieving or depressed, suicidal thoughts and behaviors seem to become an outlet for the pain.

While this is a very complex issue that very often requires professional help, there are many extraordinary things that ordinary people can do to save lives: raising awareness, reducing stigma about conversations on su***de, providing professional support, encouraging action and, perhaps more simply, helping others.

We are sharing this wonderful and simple approach: asking people if they are ok.
