Chat AI is coming to Google search engine

“Google CEO Sundar Pichai says the search engine plans to add conversational artificial-intelligence features.
Advances in AI would supercharge Google’s ability to answer an array of queries, Pichai said in an interview. He dismissed the notion that chatbots posed a threat to Google’s search business, which accounts for more than half of revenue at parent Alphabet. With Microsoft already deploying the technology behind the ChatGPT system in its Bing search engine, Pichai is dealing with one of the biggest threats to Google’s core business in years as he also faces investor pressure to trim costs. Last week Google told employees to expect more spending cuts, including to the company’s computing infrastructure, which is critical for developing and running powerful AI algorithms.”

ChatGPT (Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer) is a chatbot launched by OpenAI in November 2022. It is built on top of OpenAI's GPT-3 family of large language models, and is fine-tuned (an approach to transfer learning). Both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques.

In one sentence, it’s a open AI (Artificial Intelligence) environment to solve problems.

ChatGPT was launched as a prototype on November 30, 2022, and quickly garnered attention for its detailed responses and articulate answers across many domains of knowledge. Its uneven factual accuracy was identified as a significant drawback. Following the release of ChatGPT, OpenAI was valued at $29 billion.

Sadly, ChatGPT isn’t available in many countries in Africa, including Cameroon…
