How do high-speed production lines change label rolls without stopping?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a recent labeling project we worked on and also hear how others solve this challenge in high-speed packaging lines.

We recently built a **non-stop round bottle labeling machine** for a beverage manufacturer running a PET bottle line at over **60 bottles per minute**. Their biggest issue was label roll replacement.

Normally when a label roll runs out, the labeling machine has to stop briefly. But in their case, stopping the line would interrupt the filling and packaging process, which caused productivity losses.

So we designed a **dual labeling head system**.

When one roll is about to finish, the system automatically switches to the second labeling head. This allows the production line to continue running while the operator replaces the empty roll.

Key configuration of the system:

• Dual labeling heads for non-stop operation
• Servo motor driven labeling control
• PLC + HMI interface
• Photoelectric bottle detection sensors

The machine can run up to **60 bottles per minute**, and labeling accuracy is around **±1 mm**.

After installation, the customer reported around **15–20% improvement in production efficiency**, mainly because the line no longer needs to stop for roll changes.
