Most small cafes don't have a furniture problem — they have a layout problem.
A 50 sqm shop with 40 chairs sounds fine until chairs get pulled out, the queue cuts through the dining zone, and solo customers camp at every 4-top. 💺
Here's what the data says (from an Australian commercial café-furniture supplier's layout guide, tested on 7 real floor plan templates):
✅ Plan 1.2–1.5 sqm per cover — a 50 sqm lease rarely means 40 covers once kitchen & storage come off
✅ Draw every chair pulled out — allow 450–600mm behind each seat
→ Build on 2-top tables — split, pair, or push together for groups
→ Keep the queue off the dining floor — 900–1,200mm clear
