The Origin of Mid-Autumn Festival/中秋节的由来🌕🥮
Today, let me share the story behind Mid-Autumn Festival.
Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important traditional Chinese festivals. It is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month every year.
Long ago, there were ten suns in the sky. They burned the earth and made people’s lives very difficult. Then a skilled archer named Hou Yi came forward. With his great archery skills, he shot down nine suns and left only one, bringing peace back to the world.
To reward Hou Yi, the Queen Mother of the West gave him a magic pill that could make people immortal.
However, a bad man heard about the pill and wanted to steal it. To protect the immortal medicine from falling into the wrong hands, Chang’e, Hou Yi’s wife, swallowed the pill in a hurry.
After taking the magic pill, Chang’e’s body became lighter and lighter. She flew up to the moon and lived in the Moon Palace forever, separated from her husband.
Since then, on the night when the moon is the brightest and fullest, people look up at the moon, remember Chang’e, and express their feelings of reunion, longing and blessings.
Traditional customs of Mid-Autumn Festival include admiring the moon, eating mooncakes🥮, carrying lanterns, family gatherings, moon worship and making wishes🧧.
This is one of the most beautiful legends about the origin of Mid-Autumn Festival.

中秋节是中国重要的传统节日之一，每年在农历八月十五这一天庆祝。传说很久以前，天上有十个太阳，把土地晒得干裂，百姓生活非常艰难。后来，神箭手后羿挺身而出，凭借高超的箭术，射下了九个太阳，只留下一个，让人间重新恢复了安宁。
西王母为了奖励后羿，赐给他一包不死药。
然而，坏人得知这件事后，想要抢走仙药。
为了保护不死药不落入恶人手中，后羿的妻子嫦娥情急之下吞下了仙药。吃下仙药后，嫦娥的身体渐渐变轻，飞出了人间，一直飞到月亮上。
从此，她住在月宫里，与丈夫分离。
后来，每到月亮最圆最亮的夜晚，人们就会仰望明月，思念嫦娥，也借这个节日表达团圆、思念和祝福。
中秋节的传统习俗包括赏月、吃月饼🥮、提灯笼、家人团聚，还有祭月、祈福🧧等活动。
