Our Green Urban Transformation Project of the City of Ziyang (China, Sichuan Province), funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB), and led by NAREE Intl and CITILINKS, has recently been completed. During the last 2 years - at the heart of the pandemic - we focused on the carbon-neutral transition of the city and the transformation of its industry parks into symbiotic and circular industrial ecosystems, and how to translate China's Dual Carbon Policy into effective urban planning guidelines and implementation phasing. We elaborated synergies between shared-used, electric and multimodal transport/logistics and industrial symbiosis can reduce the spatial and carbon footprints of the industrial sector, can prevent water pollution and reduce waste at the source to the minimum.

We have started a new collaboration with CTI Engineering Co Ltd and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to work together on the future of urban mobility and infrastructure in the unique city of Antananarivo in Madagascar.

We would like to thank all our partners and friends for all the progress and achievements made possible by the fruitful collaborations and solidarity that shaped the Citilinks projects in 2022!
While exciting events of international cooperation took place in the Netherlands and Belgium, we were able to relaunch railway and affordable housing projects in Conakry (Guinea), to accompany and convince the city of Xi'An (China) to pedestrianize its historical city center with a people-centered design, to trace the path of meaningful urban projects in Madagascar and experiment urban observatory pilots in Ghana and Mali. Last week, we finalized our eco-industry park's green transformation project in Ziyang, China with the Asian Development Bank.
In 2022, we also opened a new chapter of activities in Southeast Asia on sustainable urban mobility and urban resilience in Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau.
Last year was actually the occasion to co-launch a podcast on urban mobility in Africa, and 2023 will be shaped by more similar initiatives across the continent.

As the Chinese city of Xi'An and its 12 million people are shifting to a more sustainable urban mobility with the construction a multimodal public transport network, Citilinks team works since 2021 on the transformation of its city center following the completion of a new metro line.
By giving a different interpretation of traffic projection studies, we have proposed the creation of a green and cultural urban boulevard for DongDaJie Road, optimizing multimodal synergies between on-demand e-mobility and public transport to maximize pedestrian space and create a "cultural park avenue" reconnecting people with the Bell Tower at the center of the main roundabout of the city center.
At the end of the "cultural rambla" of Xi'An, a tridimensional public space has been designed to connect pedestrian areas, metro stations entrances and accesses to the Bell Tower.
The cycling network provides wide lanes to 2-wheelers and is completely independant and protected from the traffic.
DongDaJie Avenue is not accessible anymore to motorized commuters but offers instead multiple options of public transport supply and e-mobility services for residents, visitors and deliveries.

In 2021, Citilinks and Madexpertise have elaborated a strategic urban diagnostic of Antananarivo, the capital city of Madagascar, for the African Development Bank (AfDB), as part of the program of the Urban & Municipal Development Fund (UMDF). The project has focused on sustainable urban development and infrastructure, resilience to climate change and municipal governance.
Furthermore, a strategic vision for a decentralized & polycentric, greener, safer and more inclusive city at the horizon 2040 has been translated into an action (investment) plan targeting priority projects.
The 'Grand Tana' urgently needs to define a decentralized peri-urban socioeconomic model that can respond to increasing demographic pressure, while tactical and multimodal infrastructure projects must emerge from such visioning exercise.
On the other hand, it is at the level of the smallest territorial unit, the 'fokontany', that incremental and inclusive projects made for and by local communities can contribute improved local governance and social inclusion.
