In the to***co industry, all countries use their own classification of raw to***co (leaf), and standardization among agricultural technicians and to***co traders is different. Therefore, to simplify things, we use the following gradations. This is just our research, it is not universally accepted, and frankly, in our years of studying and working with to***co and communicating with industry participants, we have never come across a single standard that has been approved at an official "int" level.
1.Geographical Group: American, Eastern, Island.
2.Region: USA, Brazil, Turkey, Balkans, Syria, Cuba, Nicaragua, Indonesia, China…
3.Type / Cultivar: Virginia, Maryland, Burley, Oriental. ("green" class). *Cigar To***co ("dark" class).
4.Subtype: Golden Virginia, Red Virginia, White Burley, Dark Burley, Red Burley, Hybrid…
5.Variety: Kasturi, Izmir, Basma, Prilep, Besuki, Krumovgrad, Samsun, Katerini, Sumatra, Xanthi, Dubek, Latakia, Yaka, Maduro, Corojo, Criollo…
6.Quality Grade: Low, Middle, Upper-Grade;
*Grade: Wrapper, Binder, Filler.
7.Curing Class: Flue-Cured, Sun-Cured, Dark Air, Dark Fire.
8.Merchandise: Loose Leaf, Bundle, Rope, Hand Strips, Cut…
9.Cutting Type: Fine/Rag/Shag (Cigarette); Coarse (Ho**ah); Ribbon, Flake, Cube… (Pipe);
10. Final result of different Production Processes (Drying/Aging/Curing/Fermentation):
