As we in China, adjust to the crisis of the ,

fear and mistrust are running more rampant than the virus itself.

Companies are getting hit with this prejudice and fear externally and internally.

Externally, they are facing clients, customers, and suppliers who worry about every handshake, internally, colleagues worry where each journeyed during the break.

HR teams need to be prepared to face this challenge as soon as office doors reopen. What will happen in a factory dormitory?

How do you rebuild trust in an environment of fear?

Shanghai is still vigilant for the Corona virus, and the streets are still empty.

The residents are ready for the green light.

We have lives to live, and normalcy is waiting for us.

And as I sat this afternoon contemplating this situation and the impact still to come, I remembered a friend’s words of wisdom from years ago:

“If you want to persevere, Adjust and Overcome.”

Brace yourselves... when this is over, Shanghai is coming back stronger than ever....

There are so many rumors floating around, and words like “quarantine,” “lockdown,” and “travel bans” add to the scare of the coronavirus.

China is resilient – the country has proven it time and again. Businesses are already preparing to reopen, but international flights are on hold for several weeks/months, and many companies have issued travel bans to China and other parts of Asia. This can drastically impact projects, profitability, and continuity.

I am in Shanghai and available to assist and coordinate activities for you, including: supply chain functions, interim management, restructuring, process improvements, people efficiencies, and more. If I can’t help you directly, I will find a suitable resource who can – my goal is to keep you whole.

If there's any way I can support you, your suppliers, your colleagues, and your friends, please message me here or send me an email ([email protected]).

As China gets back to normal, let’s make sure you do as well.

Coaching IS a way to empower people to find their OWN best solution.

Coaching IS asking powerful questions to get to the emotional and intellectual truth.

Coaching IS future-focused – it’s about becoming your best you.

It is the perfect storm: a new year with new opportunities and new resolutions. You just get started when an extended winter holiday and a crisis that keeps you indoors hits. Motivation is down, questioning is up, and walls are closing in….

At times like this, it is natural to re-evaluate our paths, our goals, and our careers.

You don’t have to do that alone.

I am delighted to offer a 20% discount on remote and in-person coaching for all new clients registered before the end of February.

They say NYC is the city that never sleeps, and that Shanghai is the city that never sits down... until this week. Looking out my window onto the nearly empty bridge below, I am filled with emotions for myself and the people of this city. Thoughts run in my brain between physical and mental health, economic endurance and rebuilding, and the heartbreak of this happening during this annual festive time. From the people stranded here and around the globe to the racial profiling... and to gratitude for all of the precautions for the unknown. I’m leaning hard on gratitude. Hug your loved ones closely, wash your hands, and remember everyone has a truth. Be kind, be realistic, and be patient... this, too, shall pass.

With the coronavirus unknown, the recommendation from the city is to stay indoors and avoid crowded places. At first, it felt a lot like a snow day, but by day 5, I was b-o-r-e-d...... this soft quarantine will continue for another week, maybe longer... so it’s time to buckle down - this is a gift and I don’t want to waste it.

It’s time for a list and a Round Tuit...

After several days indoors in Shanghai, my laziness factor has reached all time highs. I finally decided yesterday to buck up and get cracking.

Empowerment and trust only work with two-way communication - the employee needs to know when to seek help, and when deliverables/deadlines are. And the leader needs to be open to help and coach for solutions. For more about this topic, please check out my article this week: https://lnkd.in/faHaWPh
