Declining orders from two clients:
Today, two clients enquired whether we could machine magnesium-aluminium alloys. The order volumes were substantial, and they informed us that magnesium-aluminium alloys represent a future trend, given the material’s low cost, lighter weight and the move towards lightweight design. With 20 years’ experience in prototype manufacturing, we are usually well ahead of certain trends. In fact, as early as four or five years ago, we received similar order enquiries. However, due to the flammability of magnesium-aluminium alloys, we have always been reluctant to take the risk. As a manufacturing facility, safety in production is always our top priority—it is of the utmost importance to the factory management, our colleagues, and the clients who place their trust in us. Every role must be underpinned by safety: managers must ensure safety to protect their colleagues and clients; colleagues must prioritise safety for their own sake; and clients must ensure safety to safeguard their projects and companies. For these reasons, we politely declined the order. We have always been committed to providing safe, high-quality, efficient and mutually beneficial services, and we are unwilling to compromise our fundamental principles due to uncontrollable factors. Perhaps this is not the most ‘clever’ approach, but we firmly believe it is the right one.
