China has introduced a **zero-tariff policy for goods imported from 53 African countries**—but will African businesses truly benefit?

The policy creates major opportunities for **African exports to China**, including coffee, cocoa, avocados, fruits, wine, minerals and processed products.

However, zero tariffs do not mean automatic market access. Exporters must still meet China’s requirements for **certification, product registration, quality, packaging, inspection, rules of origin and customs clearance**.

Africa must also move beyond exporting raw materials by processing, packaging and branding more products locally.

China has opened the door. Is Africa ready to enter?
