Created to support and bring visibility to emerging women filmmakers, the award honors one film each year from the Cannes Short Films Competition and La Cinef. With a prize of 20,000 euros and comprehensive support, this award has enabled five winning short films to be selected more than 250 times at international festivals and to win 60 awards. Gillian Anderson, L’Oréal Paris-ambassador and the prize‘s new jury member — succeeding Viola Davis — had the honor of presenting the award to 𝗟𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶 𝗟𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗴 for her short film 𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙨.

Based on an ancient Qiang myth, the film follows a monkey raised among humans who journeys to the Holy Mountain in search of the secret of “warmth.” After enduring hardships and confronting the “beast of fear,” he retrieves the fire stone and undergoes a transformation through fire and rebirth.
