Pharmaceutical enterprises take the initiative to reduce prices: "4 + 7" pilot effect "beyond expectations"

On January 1 2019, the General Office of the State Council issued the Pilot Program for the Centralized Procurement and Use of Drugs by the State Organization. On April 1, 11 pilot cities were fully launched.

"Beyond expectations!" Chen Jinfu, deputy director of the State Medical Security Bureau, commented on the implementation of centralized drug procurement.

In the "4 + 7" pilot area, 25 drug varieties were selected, with the average price reduction of 52% and the maximum reduction of 96%. Through the strength of the state, the urgent needs of the common people have been solved through the exchange of market volume and price.

Innovation to power Chinese companies' dreams in ASEAN

Digitization, technology innovation and sustainable development will become key areas of business exploration for Chinese companies in member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, said an executive of HSBC.

"China is taking the lead in the area of internet economy where there is huge room for cooperation," said David Liao, president and CEO of HSBC China, at a recent forum held by the multinational banking and financial services institution in Beijing on the China-ASEAN economic corridor.

"In addition, consumer spending in ASEAN is expected to grow by 7 percent annually to $1.9 trillion by 2020. This will also bring opportunities to Chinese companies," Liao said.

"Technology, the consumer market, and properties and infrastructure are the three main areas of investment for Chinese companies in the region," he said.

汇丰银行(HSBC)一位高管表示，数字化、技术创新和可持续发展将成为中国企业在东盟成员国间进行商业探索的关键领域。

China's leading EV battery maker CATL posts 48% revenue increase

BEIJING - Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL), China's leading lithium-ion battery and energy storage system producer, on Thursday said that it posted 48.08 percent year-on-year revenue growth in 2018.

In its annual financial results filed to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, CATL said its revenue reached around 29.61 billion yuan ($4.42 billion) last year.

In the past year, the company's sales of energy storage system increased by 1,051.89 percent to about 189.5 million yuan and sales of lithium-ion battery reached 3.86 billion yuan, up 56.27 percent year-on-year.

While the company's net profit attributable to shareholders decreased by 12.66 percent year-on-year to about 3.39 billion yuan.

As the subsidy for new energy vehicles continues to decline, the pressure on the "watchman" of CATL continues unabated.

UK Parliament launches Huawei 5G investigations

Members of Parliament in the United Kingdom and representatives from the Chinese technology company Huawei will be asked to provide evidence to a parliamentary committee investigating the company's involvement in building 5G networks in Britain.
The UK's Science and Technology Select Committee has confirmed it will convene an evidence session regarding Prime Minister Theresa May's reported decision to allow Shenzhen-based Huawei to supply equipment for 5G mobile and internet infrastructure in the UK.
Earlier this week, the Daily Telegraph reported that May had decided to allow the use of Huawei equipment in British networks.
The information was leaked to The Telegraph from within a classified meeting of the National Security Council, which was chaired by May and which included participation from senior Cabinet members and security officials.
