Inside the Vidalido Tent Factory
How is a Vidalido tent manufactured and delivered to campers?
Vidalido started as a tent factory. Since its establishment in 2012, we have never stopped our R&D efforts. From selecting fabrics and components to designing the pole structure, from studying manufacturing processes to perfecting every detail, we imbue our outdoor tents with their original vitality and an unwavering commitment to quality. We have always believed that the most important thing is to uphold craftsmanship in manufacturing.
Initially, we primarily handled OEM orders for Taiwanese, Japanese, and Korean brands, producing the refined camping tents that were rarely seen in the domestic market at the time. After launching the "Vidalido" brand, our focus shifted to park instant tents. These feature semi-automatic poles, allowing setup with a simple pull and lift – a convenience campers appreciate for effortless, burden-free outings.
By 2020, the outdoorsy lifestyle had captured the interest of a wider audience, becoming a popular choice for weekend and holiday getaways. Our park tents, priced under a thousand yuan, repeatedly sold out, necessitating a pre-sale model. The memory of our automatic teepee tents being fully booked before shipment remains vivid. Even amidst surging demand, we were unwilling to outsource production to third-party manufacturers, as we found it difficult to find workshops as meticulous about details as our own. Later, we expanded our original factory and established a Longyan branch to increase capacity. The workshop space alone covers 12,000 square meters, achieving an annual production value reaching the hundreds of millions.
On our tenth anniversary, we launched manually pitched tents for advanced users: the "Sunrise/Sunset" geodesic dome, the "Horizon" and "Aurora" tunnel tents, and the "Ridge" fire lounge tent, among others. We aim to accompany campers from entry-level to advanced stages, until camping becomes an integral part of their lives, with us remaining the manufacturer of reliable, comfortable, and user-friendly gear.
This article documents our visit to the factory workshop, tracing the workflow. From cutting fabric panels to sewing, from design and prototyping to delivery into the customer's hands, every seemingly mechanical step is infused with our warm dedication.
-
Tent sample room
Upon entering the factory, the sample room immediately draws attention. New products under development and prototyping are set up here for display and discussion on optimizations. Designers meticulously consider every detail suggested by camping enthusiasts for improvement: the cotton fabric "Ridge" tent, multi-sized lightweight tents, extension parts for cabin tents, and even air tents.
For our designers, creating the ideal product isn't the hardest part; the challenge lies in ensuring players love it too, striking a balance between market needs and innovation.
-
Cutting and sewing workshop
The choice of fabric largely determines a tent's positioning and usage scenarios: silicone-coated nylon, wear-resistant Oxford cloth, titanium-silver coated polyester, breathable TC cotton. If the pole structure is the tent's skeleton, then the fabric is its flesh and blood.
Once the fabric is finalized, pattern makers bring printed designs to the cutting workshop. Here, fabric rolls are repeatedly spread out, smoothed, layered, and cut according to the patterns into the corresponding tent panels.
In the sewing workshop, the cut panels are stitched according to the designs into complete inner and outer tents. This stage also includes attaching zippers, webbing straps, snap fasteners, and other components, as well as applying waterproof tape to the seams.
-
Quality re-inspection and assembly
The workshop supervisor notes that quality re-inspection is a crucial, though often overlooked, step. Every sewn inner and outer tent is hoisted and fully unfolded to check for neat stitching and complete components. Only after passing quality checks are they neatly folded and transported in stacks to the assembly workshop.
The assembly workshop is the final step before shipment: packing the tent fabric, poles, pegs, and other accessories into boxes. For automatic instant tents, the semi-automatic poles are first hoisted and unfolded, and the inner tent fabric is installed before final packing.
-
Tent Garage
Our warehouse occupies a full half of the factory space, used for storing fabrics, components, and finished tents. Goods are categorized by item, size, and color, neatly stacked on wooden pallets, and moved between shelves via forklift, one pallet at a time.
Those with a penchant for order would likely appreciate the Vidalido tent factory. The warehouse, office areas, and production workshops are kept clean and dust-free. All staff change into indoor slippers upon entering, and cleaning occurs multiple times daily. The warehouse layout and assembly lines are all orderly and systematically arranged.
-
The rooftop live broadcast room
We have set up tents of various sizes on the rooftop terrace, arranged in neat rows. Tents belong under open skies, where one can truly feel the shelter they provide amidst nature.
In tent development, weather resistance (wind and rain performance) is the primary consideration, determining the locations we can explore and the conditions we can withstand. Prototype tents undergo over four weeks of exposure testing on the rooftop, enduring wind, sun, and rain.
After sunset, the rooftop transforms into a live-streaming space for tents, where we explain their features and designs to campers via mobile screens. Xiamen's summers often bring typhoons and heavy rain. Sometimes, unexpected weather changes prevent us from clearing the tents in time, inadvertently providing real-world "testing" of different tents' performance in severe conditions.

The condensation of ingenuity and persistence
From a single drawing, a piece of fabric, a pole, to the final boxed product delivered into the hands of campers, we understand deeply that this is more than just the flow of a product; it's the transfer of trust and expectation. We insist on refining every detail within our factory, so that the moment the tent is pitched in the wild, it becomes your secure "home away from home," ready to face wind, frost, rain, and snow.
With over a decade dedicated to manufacturing, Vidalido firmly believes: Well-made tents, built by ourselves, bring peace of mind. Whether you are a newcomer tasting the joys of camping for the first time or an advanced enthusiast pursuing wilderness experiences, we hope to use this "warm dedication," born in our factory, to accompany you through more campsites and hold more scenery for you. Let camping truly become the indispensable poetry and distant horizon in your life.
