Certified by BioCarbon Standard, the Helios Santa Rosa Solar PV Plant is a milestone in Argentina’s energy transition.

Developed from the ground up, it transforms previously unused land into a reliable source of clean electricity feeding the national grid—displacing fossil fuel-based generation with certified solar energy.

With over 21,000 photovoltaic panels and an installed capacity of 10.2 MW, the project generates 24,460 MWh per year and prevents 9,389 tCO₂e in annual emissions.

Made viable through carbon credits, it proves how climate finance enables real, scalable impact.

Colima leads the way in subnational carbon markets 🌎

Colima has officially recognized BioCarbon Standard as an approved certification program under its state emissions compensation system—a major milestone for credible carbon markets in Mexico.

What this means for project developers:

• BioCarbon-verified credits are now eligible for Colima’s carbon tax program
• Companies can earn the SBC-COL Low Carbon Label using BioCarbon credits
• Projects must be registered in the official IMADES registry
• Eligible sectors include agriculture, forestry, waste, transport, energy, and more
• Credits from 2021 onward qualify; from 2026, 50% must originate in Mexico

Why BioCarbon?
Global governance. Rigorous quantification. Tangible sustainable development outcomes. Fully verifiable impact—ideal for LATAM-based projects.

This move by Colima underscores the growing leadership of subnational governments in climate action.

Querétaro sets a bold precedent in subnational carbon policy ⚖️

On December 26, 2025, Querétaro launched its State Low Carbon Emissions Label and formalized the State Emissions Compensation System, signaling a strong commitment to market-based climate action.

Key highlights for project developers:

• BioCarbon Standard is officially recognized for offsetting up to 50% of the carbon tax base
• Verified credits from 2020 onward are eligible (≥100,000 tCO₂e/year or 3-year total)
• Starting 2026: 25% of credits must come from local projects (forestry, energy, livestock, waste)
• Applications due by October 31, 2026; decisions within 30 business days
• Fiscal incentives include:
– 20% early payment discount (Jan–Feb 2026)
– UMA rate: $117.30 MXN/tCO₂e (Feb 2026)

BioCarbon brings global rigor, verified impact, and trusted governance—maximizing environmental credibility and fiscal advantages under Querétaro’s framework.

Querétaro is now a national model for subnational climate leadership.
