GreenHeritage Webinar Successfully Held: Urban Heritage & Nature-Based Solutions

The first webinar of the GreenHeritage Community of Practice was successfully held on 26 March 2026, officially launching its programme of activities. 🌿🏛️

Organised by Casa Árabe within the GreenHeritage project, together with our guests from the PAX association – Patios de la Axerquía, the session brought together international participants and featured inspiring presentations by architects Gaia Redaelli and Carlos Anaya. 🌍✨ Under the theme “Urban Heritage and Nature-Based Solutions: the PAX Strategy in Córdoba,” the webinar explored how historic urban environments can actively contribute to environmental sustainability. 🌱🏙️

Using the example of Córdoba’s historic courtyards from the Islamic period, the speakers presented innovative approaches that connect cultural heritage with nature-based solutions, offering valuable insights for sustainable urban development. 💡🌸

The event also introduced the GreenHeritage Community of Practice as an open international network, aimed at professionals interested in the intersection of heritage and sustainability. 🤝🌿

Stay tuned for upcoming activities and opportunities to join this growing global community. 🌱

Casa Árabe organized an exclusive visit to the Salón Rico of Medina Azahara archeological park, currently under restoration and exceptionally opened for this special workshop.
Future teachers from the Master’s in Education explored innovative methodologies connecting environment, sustainability and cultural heritage, rethinking how we teach the past to build a more conscious future 🌿
The workshop was based on the analysis of the “Tree of Life” motifs, linking them with local flora to better understand the relationship between nature and cultural expression.
This activity was carried out in collaboration with the University of Córdoba.

And this is just the beginning…
📅 In April, new workshops will bring Green Heritage to young people in Córdoba aged 13–17, both in Medina Azahara and the city of Córdoba.

🌎 Through this project, the focus is on how education, international collaboration, and innovative approaches can contribute to preserving cultural heritage while shaping it for future generations.

At the forum, it was shown how ideas can evolve into concrete projects, and how students can actively contribute to meaningful changes with real impact 🚀

💡 Innovation is not just about technology—it’s about discovering new ways to protect 🏛️, preserve 🌿, and enhance what already exists ✨
