UNESCO Global Geoparks celebrate the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, and use this occasion to bring awareness to Indigenous Peoples within the world's Geoparks.

UNESCO Global Geoparks can provide a respectful place for the Indigenous Peoples of the World that honours and respects their cultural contributions, their language, customs, and their deep understanding of the natural environment.
The knowledge and culture of Indigenous Peoples enrich our Global Geoparks.
On this International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, Global Geoparks seek to lift up the voices of Indigenous Peoples and to celebrate their knowledge.

More than 30% of the UNESCO Global Geoparks have in their territory an indigenous population mainly In America, Asia and Africa.

UNESCO Global Geoparks provide more visibility and develop more action to valorize and protect their Indigenous people.
People which have a unique intimate and millennial relationship with the Earth.
A relationship deeply embeded in their language, knowledge, culture, cosmogonie, practices.

To celebrate this International day, we invite UNESCO Global Geoparks with indigenous population to post in facebook quality photos, videos and project materials they have developped and thus to provide clear strong support and visibility.

Завод за заштиту природе Србије пружио је стручну подршку у припреми овог издања, како би природне вредности ових заштићених подручја биле веродостојно представљене. Кроз филателију, природно наслеђе Србије добија још један важан вид промоције и доприноси подизању свести о значају његовог очувања. 🌿📮

The Post of Serbia has released a new postage stamp issue titled “European Nature Conservation”, featuring motifs from Đerdap National Park and the Stolovi Mountain Landscape of Outstanding Features.

The Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia provided expert support in preparing this issue, ensuring that the natural values of these protected areas were represented authentically. Through philately, Serbia’s natural heritage gains another important form of promotion, helping raise awareness of the importance of its conservation. 🌿📮
