While US-native competitors retrofit GDPR, the AI Act, NIS2, and DORA into legacy architecture, EU-native startups that bake compliance in on Day 0 walk into enterprise procurement with a 30–50% shorter sales cycle.

Compliance-by-Design is not legal posture. It's a Go-to-Market strategy.

Three reasons it compounds:

MWC Barcelona 2026, here I come after a few years representing Centar za digitalnu transformaciju.

Barcelona has this way of making you forget you’re at a conference.

There’s a moment at MWC when the noise fades and everything becomes unexpectedly clear. For me it happened mid-conversation with someone building AI infrastructure for markets most people can’t even find on a map. We were talking about the same challenges I face with clients in Serbia and Bosnia every day. Different language, same frontier.

That’s what struck me most — not the technology itself, but the urgency in people’s eyes. AI agents that don’t just assist but decide. Networks becoming invisible infrastructure. A regulatory landscape still catching up with its own ambitions. And thousands of people who genuinely believe that what they’re building matters.

The Western Balkans needs to be part of this conversation — not as an observer, but as a contributor. I always leave MWC with more questions than answers, and that’s exactly the point. The best strategic thinking doesn’t start with certainty. It starts with the right conversations.

Before a few weeks, I spent five hours facilitating a transformation I never tire of witnessing: the moment when business professionals realize that artificial intelligence isn't magic—it's a skill that can be learned, structured, and systematically applied.

The workshop at the Center for Digital Transformation began as many before it did. Twenty experienced business professionals, laptops open, expectations mixed with healthy skepticism. The unspoken question hanging in the air: "How will I actually apply this tomorrow at the office?"
