🔵TRNC citizenship was recently approved for 41 people who had resided in the country for a long time and met certain conditions under the Citizenship Law.

The decision came into force after the publication of the list of naturalized citizens in the Official Gazette.

🔵The President of the TRNC, Ersin Tatar, made a donation of 75 thousand euros to the Committee for Missing Persons on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot community. The community has already provided the committee with financial assistance in the amount of 583 thousand euros since 2006.

The Project for the Exhumation, Identification and Return of the Remains of Missing Persons in Cyprus was established in 1981 by agreement between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders under the auspices of the United Nations and came into force in 2006. Thanks to work funded by the European Union and financial support, the remains of 1,034 missing people from the Turkish and Greek Cypriot communities have been identified and returned to their families for burial.

🔵The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has declared three days of national mourning for those killed in a rocket attack on a hospital in the Gaza Strip. The decision to declare mourning was published in the Official Gazette

The mourning period began on October 19 and will last until sunset on October 21. TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Yüstel announced this step on the Turkish TV channel TRT Haber. Mourning was also declared in Turkey, which had previously declared three days of mourning for those killed in the shelling in Gaza. In connection with this, state flags will be lowered throughout the country and in Turkish foreign institutions. According to the latest data, 3.4 thousand people died in Gaza.

🔵The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, during his Turkish tour, expressed his assessment of the proposal to rename the country, eliminating the word “northern” from its name. This proposal was put forward for discussion by the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MMP) and former Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey, Devlet Bahçeli.

The head of Northern Cyprus expressed gratitude to the Turkish politician for his support in changing the name of the country. He also stressed the possibility of considering this change, although it would require a constitutional amendment. The President believes that the new name will emphasize the existence of a Turkish state in Cyprus, supported by the Republic of Turkey.

🔵The third stage of repair of the main Girne-Alsancak road has begun. The Prime Minister of the TRNC, Ünal Yüstel, and the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Erhan Arıklı, inspected the section of the Kyrenia-Alsancak road where work has begun. Sidewalks and ramps in the Lapta hotel area will be ready in 3-4 months.

After the completion of this project, the priority will be the Kyrenia-Catalköy road. Budgetary resources have already been allocated. The total cost of the project is about 200 million Turkish lira. This will improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on road sections.

🔵Cellular operator Telsim has introduced a 4.5G network with support for Super 4.5G, highlighting the importance of digitalization in Northern Cyprus. The network is available for use with compatible devices and SIM cards. In case of incompatibility, customers can obtain a new SIM card from Telsim stores.

Let us recall that last year a tender was held for the introduction of 4G and 5G technologies, with Turkcell starting to use 4G and 4.5G from September 7, and Telsim providing 4.5G service from October 6. The transition to 5G is planned in the next 5 years.

🔵President Ersin Tatar plans to open new sales offices in some countries and is considering direct flights from Moscow to Northern Cyprus. The TRNC is already operating in 27 countries and is training new diplomats to expand its presence abroad.

Tatars expressed hope for the organization of direct flights from Moscow to Northern Cyprus. Currently, air transportation from Russia to Northern Cyprus is carried out through Turkey. The President announced the receipt of applications from two Russian airlines and readiness to approve direct flights in the interests of both parties.

Negotiations on direct flights between Russia and Northern Cyprus have been underway since last year, but concrete steps have not yet been taken. Tatar stressed that at least 50,000 Russian citizens live in the country, and direct flights between the two countries are of great importance, Havadis Gazetesi reports.

🔵16 third-country nationals were sent back to their countries as part of a joint operation carried out by the South Cyprus police with the assistance of the Greek authorities and the coordination of Frontex.

This case is the 6,918th return of third-country nationals since the beginning of the year, with a total of 7,592 arrivals in South Cyprus. The rate of return and deportation is 91 percent of the number of arrivals. The next flight is scheduled for October 31, Haber Kibris reports.

🔵The Meteorological Department announced that rainy weather was approaching. From September 30 to October 4, precipitation is expected in some places. The air temperature will be about 32-35 degrees in the interior and on the beaches at the beginning of the period, and 28-31 degrees on other days.

The wind will usually blow medium strength from the south and west, writes Haber Kibris.
