Inspiring curiosity about genetics beyond the classroom🧬🧪

Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of welcoming students, teachers, parents, and Dr Panayiota Mylona, Inspector of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth, to Medicover Genetics Cyprus for the 2026 Pancyprian DNA Essay Competition Awards Ceremony.

Now in its 4th consecutive year, the competition invited students across Cyprus to explore the role of Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing in prenatal care.

Congratulations to all participants, and especially this year’s award winners, for their outstanding essays and enthusiasm for science.

A heartfelt thank you to the Biology Inspectorate, teachers, and families for their continued support in making this initiative a success year after year.

A few weeks ago, during our 4th , we welcomed the children of our colleagues to our facilities in Nicosia, giving them the opportunity to discover the environment where science and innovation come to life every day.

From an engaging storytelling session led by our Genetic Counsellor, Marilena Tapaki, author of the children's book «Πού λες εσύ;» (What do you say?) and member of the Furry Reading Club, to a special visit from a trained Labrador from the Cyprus School of Dog Training, the day was designed to spark imagination and encourage young minds to reflect on stereotypes, inclusion and acceptance through the book's powerful message.

Because inspiring the next generation doesn't always happen in a classroom. It begins by sharing what we do, promoting open dialogue, encouraging curiosity, and showing how each of us can contribute to building a more inclusive society.
