Being a management consultant, until recently I hadn’t thought about what is the VALUE of product I was proposing. In my opinion it was so obvious the importance of management systems, process approach, structured organisation, strategic planning, quality control and continuous improvement.
But when one start looking at their work from the point of view of marketing and sales, it appears not so easy to convey the value of the product to a potential client.
I can compare it with leading a healthy lifestyle. Yes, most people understand that they need to eat healthy and do sports; but apart from the aesthetic side of the issue, not everyone can say they realise the real value. Yes, I agree, there is no 100% guarantee that you will always be healthy, but as a minimum you increase your chances of living a rich life and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. And exactly the same way as neglecting the prevention of diseases, the underestimation of the importance of quality management systems for the life cycle of a company can lead to sad consequences.
