🔎Absenteeism, which is easily observed through unplanned absences like illness or personal issues, tends to increase with employee disengagement.

🔎In contrast, presenteeism is trickier to detect; employees may physically be at work but struggle with delivering their best work due to factors like heavy workloads, feeling demotivated, and job insecurity.

💡Addressing these issues through good management and promoting employee well-being is crucial to fostering a productive workplace environment.

Toxic positivity is often seen as an avoidant coping strategy, where individuals or managers prioritise maintaining a positive outlook and downplay or overlook negative emotions or challenges.

At times, we may resort to this approach to avoid uncomfortable conversations or situations. However, in the workplace, this may lead to overlooking problems, avoiding difficult conversations and failing to address employees’ emotional well-being.

Have you encountered instances of toxic positivity at work in your experiences?
